I track my 2021 Cayman a fair bit so thought it prudent to change oil earlier than recommended.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I track my 2021 Cayman a fair bit so thought it prudent to change oil earlier than recommended. I was changing brake pads at my usual local place and had them do the oil change after 8 months / 4800 miles of ownership. They reset the service interval in the car after that. When I eventually try to sell the car at some point in the future, I don’t want the lack of official Porsche stamps in the service logbook to negatively affect the price; I also don’t want to invalidate my warranty somehow. Normal service would have been after 1 year / 10000 miles. Do I have any options other than taking it to OPC for oil change in 4 months’ time again? What would happen if I were to service it with OPC only at 1.5 years (at which point I’ll be at around 10000 miles, probably)?

POST 2Original post

As its a new car, just get it serviced by the schedule. Then no questions will be raised when you sell. Do as many interim services as you wish!

POST 3Original post

Warranty is unaffected as long as they use OE parts during the first 3 years assuming you're in the UK.

POST 4Original post

Maybe I have misunderstood the OP but service interval on 982 (inc. gt4) is 2yrs/20k miles - not 1yr/10k.....?

POST 5Original post

Keep all your receipts organised and it's a non issue. I'd sooner buy a car that has a wallet full of receipts for regular oil changes than one that just has stamps in a book and no evidence of payment...

POST 6Original post

Service as per Porsche and there'll be no questions asked. If you want to show a potential buyer the receipts for the interim oil changes etc feel free but mentioning that you track the car might not go down so well...
