Suggestion

I went and got a Craftsman jack from Sears which seems to be capable of jacking up the Cayman (using the rear jack point to take off front tires) - however, when I attempt to put in my jack stands (also Craftsman) there isn't enough room to both the stand as well as the V-shaped holder (much less a hockey puck, jack point extension, etc.).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I've read some great Articles already on P9 around where/how to jack up my Cayman, put in jack stands, etc. but I've still got a bit of a question. So I'm left with two conclusions: 1) The jack stands are too tall for my car and need a shorter version 2) The jack I'm using isn't getting the car high enough off the ground Based upon the wealth of experience around this topic that I'm sure exists in this forum any thoughts or feedback here? Also - I've attached 2 images below showing the jack stand w/o the V-shaped lift barely fitting underneath the front jack point behind the FL wheel. Thanks!

Answer 2. FWIW, owning several low-clearance cars, you do need to get a good jack that can lift high, in order to get most jackstands to fit. ed
