Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

According to the door panel you can carry about 415#. Porsche sells a roof rack with a luggage compartment and that has to weigh something. What actually happens if you carry more than 415#? Does the car just become untrackworthy or does the suspension collapse? Suppose the wife and I want to take a two week trip. Add a little luggage to our weight and we could easily be at 500#. What's likely to happen? Do I need to worry about this?

POST 2Original post

I wouldn't. Instructor, me, helmets, - floor mats, full fuel tank, etc -> no issues on track. HTH

POST 3Original post

I made an autocross run with a 270# football player as a passenger; the two of us weighed about 445#. Nothing bad happened, except it was my slowest run of the day. I suspect the 415# weight limit is well on the side of caution/safety. If your luggage consists of clothes instead of liquor you should be okay.

POST 5Original post

No. You do not need to worry about that. Your Cayman will carry two adults and luggage with no problem. I do it all the time. If you are thinking about using the roof rack to deliver 20 sheets of 3/4" plywood then that's another matter.
