So I finally have my car back on the road after a long winter of removing and reinstalling the engine, replacing the camshaft timing chains and pads, pumped up the 2 camshaft tensioners (no special Porsche tool), and set the cam timing by hand.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I finally have my car back on the road after a long winter of removing and reinstalling the engine, replacing the camshaft timing chains and pads, pumped up the 2 camshaft tensioners (no special Porsche tool), and set the cam timing by hand. Now my camshaft deviation has changed from -1 and -9 to this: My big question here is how does having one negative 4.5 and one positive 4.5 affect the performance. Should I (or a shop with the special tools) re-time the cams?

POST 2Original post

Mine was a Porsche factory rebuilt engine in 2008 and one side is 3 and the other side is -3.

The OEM spec is +/- 6 degrees; you will be fine.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good. Thanks for this. Now I need to find my P0430 which suddenly appeared!
