I will replace the head unit with an aftermarket after the first of the year, more functionality and everything will sync.

For the bluetooth, press the "phone" button, then the "set" button.

because it doesn't support ecards (or vcards) that bluetooth uses between devices.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all:
I am new to the list and just purchased my first Cayman (2009). I have a couple of CDR 30 radio related questions. When I push the phone button I get a message on the screen that says "telephone not available." Is this some type of configuration problem or is there some additional radio/ phone module that I need to buy?
Also, there is an "Aux" option in the CD sub menu, presumably for an iPod or other device, but no jack I can locate to plug the device into. The manual says should be in the center console storage compartment but I can’t find a jack anywhere.
Any insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott
Welcome, and congrats on the car.
Pretty sure that bluetooth handsfree and the aux in were still options in '09. For the bluetooth, press the "phone" button, then the "set" button. Should see an option for turning on bluetooth if you have it. The aux is in the center console, front wall of the cubby, and labled on the top. Again, if it's installed in your car. Both were pretty expensive additions for what they are. Attaching a couple of pix, hopefully, to assist.
I have the same problem, no bluetooth on my
cdr-30
… my question can i purchase a newer
cdr-30
that might have the bluetooth option… I have seen one at Cayman Parts for 149.00 that they say has the bluetooth feature but will it retrofit and work properly with my 09 S?
I had my CDR30 serviced 3 times in the last 2 months for the exact same problem. The last time it was flashed/updated via CD and two days later same problem.
Stealer has been good about working on it…obviously they know it has problems but they aren't offering to replace.
I will replace the head unit with an aftermarket after the first of the year, more functionality and everything will sync. Good Luck
My CDR30 is flaky too. 1 in 20 starts it fails to receive radio signals. I have to turn the car off and wait a few minutes then it will boot up normally. I have not tried any of the software updates yet but will when I have my car serviced next month. It is not a very good stereo but I like to keep the original sound system in my cars if possible. In mine the bluetooth works well except the
iphone
contacts do not load. I don't think THAT works for anybody.
Bringing this back to the top. Yes actually that is what is happening to me. Bluetooth function is working properly, but my
iPhone
contacts do not show up, the only option to load up your contacts as far as I can figure out is by doing a vCard download, but I don't think the
iPhone
can do that, anybody else has figured something out, besides replacing the head-unit?
I gave up trying to get and use
iphone
contacts on the
CDR-30
. I find it easier now to just dial from the phone.
But, you can send contacts one at a time to the CDR (at least you could before IOS 7. Havnt tried in a long time). Get a BT connection and go to the Phone function on the
CDR-30
. There is a "add contacts" or some such function. When you get that, open a contact on the
iphone
and go to "share contact" at the bottom of the contact page. There should be an option to sent it to a BT device. The
CDR-30
will only hold a limited number of contacts, 30, 100, I dont remember. So make sure they are the important ones.
yeah, no, there is no BT device sharing option in the
iPhone
contacts settings, at least there isn't anymore (iOS7) only share via text message, email, or airdrop
If I remember this correctly, the
iphone
can't set contacts to the
cdr-30
because it doesn't support ecards (or vcards) that bluetooth uses between devices. Works fine with Android devices (although one at a time).
Hello,
Georg here, from Norway. New to this forum, from today
hello to you all.
I have 2009 cayman with
CDR-30
. Purchased my car from fortzheim, just 30 min form Stuttgart, last year. My car was delivered without the USB/IPod/AUX input in the center console. Was pretty disappointed about that, since I realize it after I had bought the car. Thought it was standard. What a stupid thing not being standard in 2009? Any how. Just bough the cable and contact from my local Porsche center the other day.
Part nr: 997 612 049 75 (cable)
Part nr: contact (I'll have to check that up)
After looking trough PET it seems like these to parts are the only thing I need to retro fit this option. I will probably have to take the car to my local Porsche center to have them configuration the CDR, in order to make it recognize the cable.
My unfollowing question to this tread is, have any one done this before, and know if it will work?
I experience the same "problems" with my CD-R as all you other guys, all Doug my CD-R has been updated by Porsche in Stuttgart.
Hope for good answers
Best regards
Georg
