There are two I've been looking at, the ProClip:
and the Panavise:
Does anyone have experience with either?
I like the
idea
of the Panavise better as it's metal rather than plastic, but it looks like it might interfere with the glove compartment door.
I have the ProClip pictured above in my 987.2. I have a Sirius Stiletto 2 portable tuner mounted to it via the vehicle dock, which has the standard AMP screw pattern. Works fine.
Is the width of the ProClip fixed or is it adjustable? I'm wondering if it will hold an iPhone...

ProClip mounts consist of two parts - the base adapter seen in the photo, and then a second adapter that slides on over the base adapter to hold the device.
ProClip makes several different holders for several different devices, including iPhones,

Thanks I've ordered one. Will post a photo of it installed next week.

I think you already have.. :hilarious:
I fabbed my own Panavise-type bracket. If you look behind the passenger side knee bolster, there are opportunities to solidly mount the bracket vis exising screws. just mount it low enough to avoid drink holder interference and out of the way of the glove box door. Mine works very well and look built-in with its black painted finish.
The advantage is significant vs. plastic; the metal bracket is rigid and allows one-finger push channel changing, you don't have to reach behind the unit to hold it steady.
Planning to purchase a SiriusXM receiver, and will need a bracket. ProClip is linked to by SiriusXM. I have used plastic brackets in other cars, and been less than happy.
If those who have successfully mounted a bracket could post pictures, it would be appreciated. I have no problem cutting, drilling, and painting aluminum stock from a
big box store or even a surplus frying pan, if necessary, but major bending is problematical. The shape and location is critical. Close ups of the Proclip might be helpful.
Glue on reinforcement to make it less flexible might be possible.
Thanks.
