Looking online it looks as if the seal is part of the cover plate, anyone tried to reseal with a smear of rtv silicone using the old plate or do I need a new cover plate.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Noticed I have a minor oil weep from my NS variocam solenoid. Looking online it looks as if the seal is part of the cover plate, anyone tried to reseal with a smear of rtv silicone using the old plate or do I need a new cover plate. If so any help with the part number appreciated

POST 2Original post

No. 20 here .. https://www.deroure.com/diagrams.asp?MAK=3&MDL=25&TBL=2518&SMA=0&SMO=0&ST=&SC=0 If there has been any work done on the solinoid and its been leaking since then then its possible the solinoid has been adjusted wrong. If not then just replace the seal . FYI .. it is possible that the solinoid itself is leaking .. rare but possible .

POST 3Original post

996.105.223.52 lid £14.31 each I would replace as the seal is likely to have gone hard.
