Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I can see Rennlist's point in the sense that a single identity keeps some integrity going on a forum, but changing cars does pose a problem.

Well - since we are now quickly approaching 6,000 Registered Members of the Rennlist Forums, I'm getting asked more frequently to change folks Displayed Names.

I also traded my 91 C2 in on a 99 996 and tried to change my sign on name but was unable to do so.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

I am now the proud owner of a 2000 996. How do you change the displayed name. I would like to delete the 81 911 sc and make the change. When I go to my profile and edit, it doesn't seem to work.
Ron,
Congrats on the new car! Click on the link below to get to your profile. Another way is to click on "User Rated" on your own message, then "My Profile", then "Update Profile."

Update Profile
Whoops.. sorry all.. my keyboard goes faster than my brain sometimes. It does appear that name changes are not allowed with the new forum software. Best bet is to contact the webmaster on that one.

Well - since we are now quickly approaching 6,000 Registered Members of the Rennlist Forums, I'm getting asked more frequently to change folks Displayed Names. During the upgrades this AM - I hacked some code - so folks are now able to change their displayed named without me having to do it for them. Hopefully, this new feature will help (at least help me
!!)..
You can access it in the link "my profile" at the top of the page - then click on "View/Update Profile ...
John,
Thanks for making the change. While you're at it, can you please enable the delete one's own post feature? I think it may come in handy from time to time.
TIA

Hi Viken..!
I would add that feature back, but unfortunately, there are a few on the Board who start a thread - then when they are sick of seeing replies to that thread, they simply "delete" their first post, wiping out everyones reply AND the entire thread.
IMHO - it's like being at a party, starting a converstaion - and when that person doesn't want to listen anymore - YELLS "SHUT UP - NOW I'M THROWING EVERYONE OUT OF MY HOME BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO TALK ANY MORE ABOUT THIS!".
In fact, we have several folks who have over 200 - 300 posts, but you can't find a single one in the archives since they deleted their opening posts and everyones replies along with theirs. In all, I'm guessing they are responsibe for deleting about 2,000 of OTHER peoples content and advice. And once they are deleted, they are gone forever.
Anyway - folks can still "Edit" their posts - so they can delete the contents within their posts if they'd like...
Best to you Viken and all..!!!
Hi John,
Thanks much for the explanation. I had no idea that a deleted original post would wipe the thread away. I guess, now that you've mentioned it, it makes some sense.
I have deleted one or two of my posts which were not originals. As such, I wouldn't have known that the thread went with them.
Thanks again!
