Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 2Original post

Hello, you will know it if you have removed the clutch and tested the dual mass flywheel. If you have a clacking noise while engaging clutch in 1 or reverse, that you definitely need one. In general at 120.000 miles and if it is the first one i would say change it. Regards, Markus

I can't imagine a scenario where the original dual-mass flywheel was still good or good enough to re-use after 120,000 miles. Assume that it needs to be replaced and you won't be disappointed.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking at buying a Flywheel from the US. I live in Australia and our steering wheels are on the right hand side of the car. Is this a problem?

POST 7Original post

Quotes source post: 510578

The engine, and clutch, do not know which side of the car the steering is on........

LMAOOOO well thank god for that. Thanks for clearing this issue for me. I had a big weekend Another Question: will a Sachs clutch kit work OK with a LUK flywheel?

POST 9Original post

Quotes source post: 510582

Yes, I believe Sachs owns Luk.

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 510600

Hello, Sachs is a brand of the ZF Friedrichshafen AG. LUK is a brand of the Schaeffler group (LUK, INA, FAG). A 986 Sachs clutch kit will work OK with a 986 LUK flywheel. Why shouldn't it? Regards, Markus
