Suggestion

If I had to do it again I would try leaving that connected and remove the other end (where the rear camber is adjusted) and see if that would work.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Novice mechanic and relatively new Boxster owner - Replacing rear Bilstein adjustable coil overs in the rear tomorrow - Just wondering if anyone has any tips or suggestions before I dig in. A fellow Porsche owner has a hydraulic lift in his shop so that's a good start. Thanks Martin PS - Any suggestions on manuals or books on doing maintenance on a 2001 Boxster S?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Exactly what I was looking for.

POST 4Original post

I used this process when I replaced my shocks. It is a lot of work but in my opinion doable by a regular person and I am the proof Hardest part was removing the rear LCA ball joint from the wheel carrier. If I had to do it again I would try leaving that connected and remove the other end (where the rear camber is adjusted) and see if that would work.

POST 6Original post

Go to this video and go about 5 minutes in, he shows how to do replace the rear struts, and doesn't break loose the two ball joints for the toe arm and the LCA. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFuERvwEt-I Note that an alignment is required after doing it this way, but if you are installing a lowering spring you need a new alignment anyway, and maybe even if installing a new strut onto your existing spring.
