I've also changed my spec quite dramatically from the spec I originally chose when I put down my deposit and received the initial order form I signed.

Not a chance on turnover the last time I looked. Then you would have to add in there turnover from there carbon fibre factory to get a true picture of what they are worth.

Does the new price apply if you already have a Macan order in and deposit payed ?
You should be fine, as long as you've got a deposit down, even if you don't have an allocation.
Prices went up on Monday with no warning. I have a Cayman GTS allocation that locks on 13/12. Met with sales guy yesterday who confirmed no price rise applies and I can still change the spec.
Melvynr said:
Why is it understandable?
Whilst they are part of the biggest car group by revenue ££ they still need to recoup costs which have increased substantially from Covid, reduced manufacturing, supply chain issues and rising costs overall.

Not sure about the first bit. Deposit paid but no allocation yet is unclear.

I'm not so sure about that. I had a deposit down in December 2020 prior to the price increase earlier in the year. When I finally locked in my spec and my final build was officially submitted and put on the system it included the new increased price. I can't see how they would bypass that unless your OPC is going to discount your order!

I've had it confirmed by email and also face to face with my sales guy yesterday that I will not face the increased price.
He was adamant that only people who placed an order from Monday onwards will have to pay the new price. There are many other people who have been told exactly the same thing. One of the GT4 threads has quite a few posts on this.

You have an actual allocation in the works, that's why yours is fixed
It's the folks without a confirmed order and build date that won't get a locked price IMHO as they don't have a definite order as yet.

I had actually expected to have to pay the increased price because I hadn't reached the spec lock date. I can 100% still change my spec up to 13/12 and retain the original base price.
The situation with people with a deposit down but no allocation now seems ambiguous. The general consensus from people contacting their dealer this week, me included, seems to be that they won't face the price rise. That perhaps flies in the face of what has gone before and conventional logic.
However, several posters here and on the 718Forum have been told that as long as they have a deposit down they're price protected. If they are far down the list then they may face another price rise in the first half of next year. I'm not sure how that'll be handled.
I think anyone with a deposit down but no allocation needs to clarify their position with their OPC sharpish.

I agree that things are unclear, especially since we have this week had an intra model year cycle price rise. I work on the principle that anyone with allocation like yourself is price protected as they are getting a car built soon. Even though I've signed an order form a few months ago and paid my £5k, my car will likely be an early MY23 so I will probably have suffered two price rises but, hopefully, some spec uplift with the second one. Speaking to the dealer won't help as my car is too far away and if I was them I would tell me to F off if I asked for price protection as someone else will take the order. Lets face it, long order times give low depreciation and make 911s relatively cheap to run.

In the past price increases are as of a set production date….if your car leaves the factory before that date its at the old price, after at the new price. Whether you have a deposit or allocation wasn’t relevant….maybe Porsche GB or the OPC’s have decided to absorb the price rise for people waiting for cars given the delays. That would be the sensible thing.
Price rise used to be annually in May…I am guessing shipping and raw materials prices have changed this and the limited production so they will be making less money because they are making less cars.
Edited by Cheib on Friday 19th November 17:27
Seem to recollect either some of the 991.1 or 991.2 GT3s came with a sport chrono upgrade mid term which included a track precision app which bumped up the option cost from c£350 to £1350. Some OPCs absorbed the cost whereas others made the customer pay.

You have to sign a purchase order and then send 3k deposit on the Macan, Gt3 was 10k deposit.
Apparently you get the final spec sent to go over before it is locked as well. After that you lose your deposit.
That has been my case anyhow.

Thing that p1ss1s me off , is that you enter into a contract and pay a deposit at a certain price, one week later the price rises and you are expected to pay which makes the contract you entered into not worth the paper it was wrote on.

Porsche reserve the right to pass on any price increases to existing orders unless the car has been locked ie too far down the production process to make any spec changes. Once its locked the price stays the same no matter what.

I am sure if you read the T’s & C’s it’ll be in there. A bit like the fact the clause that they don’t actually have to supply you a car if they don’t want to. It;’s there in case a model gets withdrawn from sale etc.
Most people don’t read contracts…whether its for a car or a job !

Fare comment, but who really does in there excitement of ordering a new motor.Ive had quite a number of new cars over the years and this is the first time I have encountered this.Fook them, the order will be cancelled.
When you might be waiting a year to get a car I think it is unreasonable to expect the price to remain unchanged. Sure when you have a firm allocation and commit a final spec a month or two before production then that should be price protected but in the long wait before that anything could happen including you exercising the right to cancel. I said earlier that the long waits help give strong residuals and that's enough for me.

No increase for orders placed before the rIse in price, confirmed with my OPC

I have been told price increase applies to my order - deposit paid 2 months ago. Only cars with build slots are not getting increase.
That makes sense to me. No one likes paying more for things but by having a price rise without a model year change Porsche have made it difficult for people. A price rise announced in the spring for the late summer model year change is accepted as there are spec changes to compensate and orders for the old model year are price protected. This is currently a no mans land scenario and leaves me wondering how big another price rise I will have to stomach as my 992 looks like being an early 2023 model year car.
I placed an order (deposit, followed by a signed 'new car order form') for a GT4 earlier this year. I don't yet have a build allocation, so I asked the question to my SA after I saw the configurator advise me of the £2250 rise on base price. He confirmed I will not be subject to the price rise because my order is already in the system (regardless of an allocation), and this price rise only impacts new orders going into the system from the date of the price rise.

Unfortunately that is not the case at all dealers.

Wishful thinking. Price you pay is only fixed when your spec has been locked.
I have been trying to resist commenting on this because the price will be what it will be but I understand that some may be anxious. I have bought several new Porsches and in all case have placed a “ holding deposit” i.e. either £3k or £5k and signed and received a New Car Order Form. Subsequently, once a build slot is available I have finalised spec and increased the deposit to 10% of the price. It is only at this stage that the price you pay is fixed. That has been my experience over the last 25 years of buying new Porsches. Hope this helps and apologies if it is not what you want to hear. If you have been told different by your dealer then good luck to you - they may be absorbing increase themselves but that would be very surprising. Anyway “ keep the faith’ whatever car you have ordered you can be sure you will enjoy it ! Its only money and there are no pockets in a shroud !! ( also remember that higher new price new usually means higher price when you sell and if you are buying via PCP the monthly cost difference will be marginal as residual will largely compensate)

This is also my personal experience over a similar timeframe. I struggle to believe any dealer will voluntarily absorb potentially multiple price increases - it would require an open ended commitment on their part and them never really knowing what margin they’ll make. Not a way run a business.
If you are waiting over a year for a car it’s pretty much certain you’ll suffer a price increase - particularly now we’re living in inflationary times.
Of course the dealer is in the hands of Porsche AG and Porsche GB as far as what the car costs them at the point they deliver it to the end customer.

They must have changed their terms and conditions then , since the last time you bought a vehicle from Porsche .
4. PRICE & PAYMENT
4.1 The price of the Vehicle is as set out in the New Vehicle
Order Form (the "Price") and includes value-added tax.
4.2 If we buy and take physical delivery of the Trade-In Vehicle(s) as envisaged in clause 6, then against the Price we will set off the Trade-In Allowance as determined in
accordance with clause 6.
4.3 You must make full and unconditional payment of the
Price (less any deposit paid and Trade-in Allowance given) to us in cleared funds on or before the Collection Date in accordance with clause 7.7. All payments towards the Price must be made in conformity with our payment policy, and any non-conforming payments may be rejected or returned without affecting your responsibility to pay the Price.
No My latest purchase was a 718 Spyder in June this year and the process I went through was as described in my earlier post
Not sure what point you are trying to make with the extract of the ts and cs
The price will be as shown on the order form when you finalise the spec and increase your deposit to 10% of the purchase price . You will be given a second new car order form at this point reflecting the full deposit paid. Also at this point the deposit becomes non returnable if you should cancel your order ( though I guess some OPC ‘ s could waive this if they have an alternative purchaser lined up). The previous smaller deposit would be refundable.

BMW and Porsche may have very different turnovers but make surprisingly similar annual profits: 4 billion euros for Porsche, 5.5 for BMW (2020 figures). Porsche turnover 26 billion euros. BMW, just over 100 billion euros.
For perspective, Toyota made (profit) just under 20 billion dollars in 2020 (on turnover of 262 billion). VW Group, including Porsche, 15.5 billion dollars (on turnover of 275 billion).

Not that close to spec lock - mine was just over 3 months prior to delivery. For a June 2022 car that would be next March, so over 3 months away...
It will be interesting to watch as I get people being price protected if they are getting a 2022MY but if some had not sent in their final spec Porsche code then it creates the dilemma of whether to change it and pay a price increase or not.
Mine is early 2023MY in my dealer’s date is accurate so I wonder about a second price rise too.
Quite lumpy increases considering EURGBP is also down about 5% on last year. When I was looking this time last year, pre sales taxes the UK was the cheapest place in the world to buy a Porsche, including the Fatherland, by some margin, so maybe you're just seeing some correction of that.
EC2 said:
It will be interesting to watch
It will. I've been told by my dealer that I am not only price protected, but also able to amend my spec without the price rise coming in.
How this manifests itself when/if I do ever move to a spec lock, we'll see, but until then I'm working on the premise that what my SA has told me is true.
Correct Melvynr, base price is protected. I was told if i had an "order" placed prior to Nov 13th this was the case. You'll only be subject to the rise if you change the model, otherwise you can make changes to the spec until the lock date.
Just to update on this, this morning I received my new & updated spec-locked order form from my SA for my GT4, and as he stated it would be it's still showing the original pre-rise price.
I've also changed my spec quite dramatically from the spec I originally chose when I put down my deposit and received the initial order form I signed.
This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
