Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

There are lots of posts about lowering springs, though not much information on the actual drop after install. I feel post-install measurement info would be useful for folks interested in lowering their cars. Approx. mileage on springs: Brand: Front (in.): Rear (in.): Porsche compensation plates, if any. I'll start with my OE setup: -2600 miles - OEM Springs (non- PASM ) - Front: 15.0" - Rear: 15.5" - Comp plate: 3mm (f) & 6mm (r) Would folks who have lowered their cars to post the measurement between the highest point of fender and center of wheel/axle? (remember to use some painter tape so you don't scratch the fender ). :thanks:

POST 2Original post

Approx. mileage on springs: 8,000 Brand: H&R coilovers Front (in.):13.5 Rear (in.):14

POST 3Original post

2006 Cayman S with PASM at 20,600 miles: front: 14 1/4 in. rear 15 1/4 in.

POST 4Original post

2009 CS - 6000 miles - OEM Springs ( PASM ) - Front: 14 3/8" - Rear: 15 1/8" I'll fill this in as soon as I get my car back from having a new master cylinder and brake booster installed.

POST 5Original post

Approx. mileage on springs: 5,000 Brand: TechArt ( eibach ) Front (in.):13.75 Rear (in.):14.5 these measurements are on my stock 18's , i suspect it might be different on my 19" classics?

POST 6Original post

Thanks 06CS! Reason suspension height should be measured from the center of the hub to fender is to remove any wheel & tire variance. When suspension is loaded, the distance from hub to fender does not change. Some will simply measure the gap between tire and fender, but that assumes tire wear is even between different measurements taken, and also assumes wheel + tire diameter, air pressure are exactly the same between cars. Same issue for anyone doing measurement from the ground to fender. What about H&R and Eibach owners?

POST 7Original post

Approx. mileage on springs: 16,500 Brand: Stock w/ PASM Front (in.): 14.25 Rear (in.): 15 Porsche compensation plates, if any.

POST 8Original post

Just installed Eibachs Pro-Kit on a 2008 Boxster S. I'll report again once they've settled after 250 miles. Approx. mileage on springs: 100 Brand: Eibach Pro-Kit (part#7218.140) Front (in.): 13-7/8 (just shy of 2 fingers gap) from 15" Rear (in.): 14-1/2" (just shy of 3 fingers gap) from 15-1/2" Porsche compensation plates: 9mm (F) and 9.5mm (R) Side view Before/OE Suspension : After/Eibach Springs: Front quarter view: Before: After:

POST 9Original post

OK, here are the measurements: OEM Springs (Non PASM ) 14.500 | 14.500 ------------------- 15.875 | 15.875 Eibach Cayman S Springs with 3mm Porsche spacers added on each corner AND brand new 6.5mm bushings (Old ones definitely compressed 1-2mm over time). 15 miles and 24 hours to settle, pre-alignement. 13.750 | 13.750 ------------------- 14.875 | 14.750 Delta 0.750 | 0.750 (~20mm) ------------------- 1.000 | 1.125 (~25/28mm) This is without any ballast in the car.

POST 10Original post

Interesting thing to note is that on my 2007 Cayman S non PASM I had the 6.5mm bushings on all 4 corners while Lithium had the 3mm in front and 6.5mm in rear...

POST 11Original post

2006 CS - 29,000 miles - OEM Springs (Non- PASM ) - Front: 14.5 " - Rear: 15.9" (my rear seems to ride much higher than the other posters)

POST 13Original post

Approx. mileage on springs: 1,500 Brand: H&R coilovers Front (in.):13.5 Rear (in.):14

POST 14Original post

Champion Motorsport springs (supposedly rebranded H&Rs, but now I wonder) 13.5 front 13.75 rear no spacer front, 15mm spacer rear.

POST 15Original post

ps9's, H&R sways. ( for the last week ) 13.75 front 14.5 rear

POST 16Original post

Stock PASM 2005 Cayman S 12/2005 Odo: 60100 Km Front: 13.98" Rear: 14.96"

Cargraphic springs with PASM Mileage: 13,750 mi Front: 13.6 Rear: 14.2

POST 18Original post

KW Variant 3 Mileage: 14k mi Front: 12.625 Rear: 12.75

POST 20Original post

I just changed to JIC cross shocks, and we set the ride height to 14 front and 14.25 rear. Would have made it lower, but the spoiler in the front will hit everything. Our goal with the ride height ( and over all ) is to make the car as balanced as possible.

POST 21Original post

2008 CS 17k miles PASM Front 14.5 Rear 15.1 Eibachs or H&R coming soon.

POST 22Original post

Please post what you go with. I'm still on the fence for springs/coil overs for my PASM equipped car.

POST 23Original post

2007 cayman H& R springs , about 5000 km on them (20 inch rims) 14.5 in the back 13.5 in the front

POST 24Original post

alan93rsa, I've decided to go with the Eibach Springs . I'll let you know what i think. I did not go for H&R as they lower a little more and on previous cars I've found them too stiff. I've only had good experiences with Eibach .

POST 25Original post

2008 Cayman S non- pasm w/18" Eibachs came with the car when I picked it up from the lot. The height measures up as: Front (in.): 13-1/2 (just shy of 2 fingers gap) from 15" (non- PASM ) Rear (in.): 14-1/2" (just shy of 3 fingers gap) from 15-1/2" (non- PASM ) Handles like a dream

POST 28Original post

Now, few months later: 13.5 | 13.5 ------------------- 14.5 | 14.5 Delta 1.0 | 1.0 ------------------- 1.375 | 1.375 Although the car is now lower in rear than the advertised 30mm, I still think it is too high there. Basically and oddly my stock car had the butt really high up. I will re-align the car again after I install new tires on it. Tomasz

POST 29Original post

That is just too low. GT3 brake ducts would pretty much sit on the ground with the car standing.

POST 30Original post

2010 PASM Cayman S with Bilstein Damptronics F 12.75 R 13.375 Just had Bilsteins installed and lowered on Friday 4/16---going for a ride today with street tires and autocross tomorrow to see if it all works or is too low. NO problems. I have done two autocrosses and no rubbing problems. Loading on a trailer is OK also. The rubber flaps forward of the front wheels do rub on some low things. 4/2/11 over the last year had it raised about 1/2" to 13.25" f and 13/75" rear. Better street ride and tire clearance for some larger tire sizes.

POST 31Original post

I believe the Cargraphic springs are actually H&R's.... When I inquired about their springs for an Audi TT with MagRide, they put me in contact with H&R. I bought the springs and plan to go with H&R for the Porsche also.

POST 32Original post

Do you have the part number for these compensation plates? What sizes are they availbe in? I'm guessing they are rubber pads that the springs sit on correct?

POST 33Original post

Where do you get these spacers (part numbers)? I feel my ride hight with Eibachs is just a bit too low. thanks ~Ben
