Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just for giggles, we hooked up our MacTools x431 reader to take a peek at camshaft deviation values. Here's what we saw: Vehicle is a 2000 base 2.7L. Engine runs, revs, and idles beautifully. No CEL. No codes. I suspect it's a code reader issue. I've done a forum search and found that some engines do not have a bank 2 sensor, but don't think that's the case here.

POST 3Original post

Your deviation for bank 2 seems a little off...

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Crisis averted. Before I totally FREAKED out, we borrowed an older Autel scanner and actually got some fairly normal readings: 3.53 for bank 1 and 5.54 for bank 2. So much for that $4k Mac Tools scanner. That said, looks like I'll be doing a teardown to replace the pads soon....

POST 5Original post

Don't sweat those deviations. You're still within spec. Doing the pads is easy with the engine out of the car. With the motor still in, it's certainly more challenging. In my opinion, a dedicated tool like the Durametric takes a lot of guesswork out of Porsche diagnostics.
