I’m happy to spend money if it’s worthwhile or not a pisstake, but when I can go to Revolution and do a 4 year cycle of major/minor and intermediate oil & filter changes on year 1&3 for (give or take) the price of a minor service at an OPC, there just isn’t any justification to use them on an older car.

Mine is due an 8-year next year and is under warranty so I’ll use OPC for that, but afterwards I’m out of the network.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
40 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Luckily two of the great technicians that worked there started their own specialist garage and i now use them, they look after my old cars and i enjoy using their service facility,my cars get good attention and its a good value experience with great people that are passionate and freindly.
I've just had an OPC quote for a major service on my 987S - over £1,000 including £695 for the service itself.
Does the fixed price serving for older cars not exist anymore (they didn't seem to recognise it at all). I'll dig out my old invoices, but I remember it being a lot cheaper when that was in place.
I don't use OPC servicing but I have seen several posts along the same lines as yours over the last year or so. Therefore yes, I believe that things have moved on (for the worse).
Thanks all.
I've just tried the local OPC and it's even more expensive! I'll try a few more, but otherwise I think it's finally time to swap to an indy.

If you can say which model and age/ mileage I may have a copy of the leaflet.
Thanks. It's a 2005 987S, 35k miles.

Why are you using a main OPC, surely a good indi is now the way to go on that model..
Will not make any difference when you come to sell...
kingston12 said:
Thanks, I’ll give them a call.
I thought their prices seemed to have gone up as I recently enquired about a 6 year service on a 981 CGTS and was told it would be £975 which I thought was a lot.

The OPC used to give me such a good discount that the cost was really close to most decent Indys anyway.
It’s useful to get a courtesy car too, and most Indys can’t provide that. My local Indy (Charles Ivey) is within walking distance of home, but actually seems to charge more than.OPC full prices!
I don’t care about the OPC history as I’ll never sell the car, and any work arising goes to an Indy unless OPC come close to the price.
Its made some kind of sense (to me at least!), but I doubt I’ll do it going forward if the differential in price has gone up.

Hi, these are snapshots from the leaflet. Only Participating Centres offered these prices. Others may have been more or less!
Thanks.
It’s not hugely different in that case. This is the equivalent of the year 8 service which was £925 anyway. If I take off the £55 the OPC are quoting for extras then it’s £1,025 this time.
I’ll still get an Indy quote I think.
Recently had a quote of £900 for a minor service on my 2007 997T. A 40% increase since the last minor. I have pointed out that my salary hasn’t gone up 40% in that time. This is the last Service under warranty and it has definitely confirmed that my car will be coming out of the OPC network now even though it is conveniently located.

Opc south london. They are cheap. And good.
+1 South London were about £500 cheaper for a major service on my 987.2 last year vs Tonbridge, Mid Sussex & Guildford.
gizlaroc said:
Definitely get away from OPC at that age. It adds no value to 90% of buyers.
Typically the difference between OPC and Indy has been less than £100, which for me is more than offset by the convenience of having a a courtesy car for a couple of days.
Now it looks like the difference is several times that, it is time to move away. I'm not worried about resale as the car is a long term keeper.

The one I've just got a quote from is the same price as the OPC!
Have a day off and go up to Reason Porsche in Suffolk - straight up the A12, absolutely first class service received from them recently. All OE Porsche parts used and half the price of an OPC service, and much less waiting time (to book in). HTH.

Thanks. I’ve actually got some time in Suffolk coming up, so that could work quite well.
Loads of specialists charge the same money, sometimes more, than OPC. Not all OPC charge the same and some will price match independents. You have proper comeback with OPC and ability to arc them to Porsche UK if you need to. With specialists if you hit a big problem, you are headed to small claims if you can’t get resolution.
Add to this you normally get a new Porsche car whilst your car is in being worked on, and it’s better value than you may think.
The only specialist I have total praise for is Christian Sanger owner of CS Sportscars and veritable rain man for Porsche, older cars in particular. He’s in Devizes.
The specialists in Yorkshire don’t charge anywhere near what OPCs do.
A major with Revolution Porsche or RPM Specialist Cars is less than half, both of which have great reputations.
Mine is due an 8-year next year and is under warranty so I’ll use OPC for that, but afterwards I’m out of the network. I’ve every confidence that the 3 reputable indies within an hour of me will have every bit of the expertise of an OPC.
A warrantied GT3, sure, but a 987/981 just seems excessive unless you’re on an extended warranty - which I’m in two minds about renewing, but leaning against; 2 years warranty and a 1k service is at least 2600, whereas a minor service at Revolution is about 250. The 2200 quid change goes a long way towards maintenance.
If I were you I’d phone your local opc and ask them what they can do re price matching before you commit. You may be pleasantly surprised. Specialists in the south are,
In my experience, too close to OPC price wise to make any sense at all. Coffee is nice in their glass and steel palace as well!
In fairness, I haven’t actually asked what they can do, as I haven’t had to do a scheduled service on my car yet. I’d be happy to pay more for the reasons you mentioned, but spreads of 6-700 quid is a bit much.
Importantly, how is the coffee?
My nearest OPC would be Silverstone….had a key cut when i had the old Boxster but any good / bad experiences servicing wise? ( i have an extended warranty till Jan 2022 as part of my recent purchase of a 981…)

Couple considerations:
1. Members of PCGB get a discount on parts, although some OPC's seem to apply the discount to entire service costs too, which have the labour element
2. Porsche's that are 15+ yrs old qualify for the Classic servicing costs which is a reduced labour rate. Worth clarifying with the OPC that's being taken into consideration
I was always very pro Porsche main dealer, my local one had some great people running it when it opened.
All this created a great relationship with customers generally that would service classics and maybe buy some new also, they welcomed all Porsches of any era and even had specific people to look after certain older models e.g 944s,air 911s etc.
The dealership felt very brand passionate, they even helped with my ancient race car and helped any way they could.I recommended them wholeheartedly and had freinds and customers travel to buy cars from them.Slowly though this has changed,my friends all left bit by bit and new people arrived that didnt want to help in anyway with any of my older cars, communication became difficult. One attempt by them at a massive bill and i realised a change in strategy was inevitable.
Luckily two of the great technicians that worked there started their own specialist garage and i now use them, they look after my old cars and i enjoy using their service facility,my cars get good attention and its a good value experience with great people that are passionate and freindly.
Porsche in the UK have missed a trick here becoming like every other mass manufacturer and just concentrating on shifting new metal ,the older Porsche servicing is a large market that Germany seemed keen to maintain looking at the marketing of "classic" etc,
It would seem by my experience ,what i have heard and read that Porsche UK are dropping the ball with this way of thinking and are not bothered.. This has a side effect with me not sure if this is the same with other enthusiast owners but i deffo feel less inclined to want a new era Porsche.

My 718 is due it’s first 2 year/20,000 mile service.
Will be a straight fight on price between Wilmslow, Stockport (new) and Bolton OPC’s.
This is what I have done, and with good results.

They're all Stratstone dealerships so don't expect much difference between them.
Maybe add Sheffield as a comparison?
Just a bit too far unless I get it in at the weekend really.

Wilmslow haven't even called me back....
But as Twinfan says, all Stratstone...
But (incl. brake fluid) Stockport £689 and Bolton £695.

Is this for a GT4 or Spyder? If so, I think they're pretty darn good prices.

I've found Wilmslow customer service to be very good, but they are also the most expensive.
Bolton undercuts them significantly, but they don't always provide a Porsche courtesy car.

Base car. Wilmslow came back and were slightly more. Going to use Stockport, which is also the closest.

Bolton and Stockport are pretty much the same. Can’t get it in until the end of July though (need a courtesy car).
