Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Help! I have just changed my enjoyed C2 3.4 for an Anniversary C2 3.6. My new car has been carefully preserved/looked after by its previous owner (thank you Simon!) and I can easily justify the extra money it cost (in my little head). So far I am very pleased with the quicker handling and enhanced performance. (I would say that the 3.4 is more 'real' to drive, the 3.6, whilst edgier with its lower suspension etc. and extra midrange and top end power, feels more 'manufactured' and 'tamed'). Anyhow I think I have a coding issue but this is a guess... there are a number of perculiar symptoms: 1. the passenger side window will not single-touch return, driver's side does 2. Autoclosure of the windows (by holding the fob button down on remote locking) does not work, auto open of both windows works but not the sunroof 3. Autoclosure will work using the key in the door lock (twist to lock & hold) 3. sometimes I need to press the fob 2 or 3 times to effect a remote locking of the car (the car being sometimes unrespondant to the fob request to lock) 4. when I remote unlock the car and open the door the elec window switched do not work until I turn the ignition on (which they should) New battery in the fob... has the car been previously coded to behave in this way? Any ideas?? An Indy dealer has tested the fob (OK) and reset the car's computer. Any hints, insight or help gratefully received!

POST 2Original post

isn't autoclosure a programmable option by that fancy dealer plug in software ?

POST 3Original post

1) think the reason the passengers side doesn't is for safety reasons - passenger could fingers in the way when closing

POST 4Original post

:agree: its just that, to prevent the driver (or passenger) accidentally closing the window etc, bit annoying but have come across the 'feature' on quite a few cars, though notably Alfa Romero are quite happy to allow it! As regards the remote not always working - I have a similar problem , but only ever with locking the car. It usually, thought not always works second attempt, or if I just hold down button for (say) 15 secs, but annoying so would also be interested to see what others say. As with you battery is brand new.

POST 5Original post

I don't have any deep knowledge, but it seems fairly similar to my C4S, so I would assume this is not a fault (then, I had no pre0conception about what was meant to be normal or not) 1 - both driver and passenger have single touch down but only driver has up 2 - was hoping to get autoclosure on fob but doesn't work (which is a nuisance). On opening the car, I can lower the windows by keeping fob pressed (not the sunroof though) 3 - have not tried 3 bis - that happens irregularly, but has happened on various other cars. There is a key generator that rotate sequences, the sequnce can get out of synch between the car and the key, you need to press several times to loop through to the correct sequence back. So in essence, if it does not work the first time, it can take several times to get back to the right sequence (well, that is the way it works on most cars) 4 - same for me, although it is the same on all the few cars I have owned so I was not surprised Whether or not you can change the behaviour, I do not know. I'll let the experts answer.
