Got told mine was delayed a month because I fiddled with the spec too much (!), but the same helpful OPC managed to speak to the factory and get it changed back.

Was insured for what I bought it for so when I renewed cut the sum insured to what I thought (via Parkers) they'd pay me for it.

Used no oil at all yet which I guess is benefit of running in - car came with litre can of Mobil in trunk so guess some must use oil?Makes great noise and not even that thirsty 27mpg on motorway (probably even higher mpg at 70mph) .

Bloke I work with just bought a new Bentley V8S which he has insured with admiral...it was cheaper for him to buy gap insurance and use Admiral than another insurer.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
45 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Exciting! I think we ordered at similar times. Got told mine was delayed a month because I fiddled with the spec too much (!), but the same helpful OPC managed to speak to the factory and get it changed back. Due to be built March 30, hoping to pick it up from Germany a couple of weeks after that.
Looking forward to photos/first impressions of yours when it comes!
Do you have a collection date yet?
Hi Josh.
Note quite yet. The car is due to arrive circa 30th March at the OPC so if I'm lucky I'll get it 5th April!
It must be currently in transit!!

Wow cruise and park assist aren't standard???? Bloody nice car though, enjoy.

Just to put this to bed once and for all, nothing is standard on Porsches, apart from the key. You buy the basic car, you get a key. Wheels are extra; doors are extra; roof is extra. Even the keys aren't completely standard, as you have to pay extra for keys that actually fit your car.
Ok, sarcasm off now.
Coincidentally, I also have one due this month. I wonder whether mine will come first. Or maybe it's the same one ...
I wonder who will get it. It ought to be me (as I didnt get any discount), but you'll probably talk them into it being you ;p

Advised today that my vehicle has arrived at Sheerness, so getting rather excited now!!
Reg number also allocated so may even collect at the weekend if the OPC can PDI it quickly enough!!
P
Congrats on car mate - enjoy. I was at Zuffenhausen last week and saw a brand new GTS in Sapphire Blue/Black wheels and PCCB's - the car looked and sounded superb.
So how long after build date did it take to get to these shores? Have just cancelled factory collection as my and Zuffenhausen's availability dates were incompatible (!) so it's now being delivered here. My build completes on Monday.
And a second vote for pictures of people's new GTSs please!
She's arrived!!!
Picked porsche up Yesterday, although then had to drive through some filthy weather on the way home. Boy cornering is good though, even in the wet!
And front shot

For me she's a hauntingly beautiful car. I'll just have to restrain myself during the running in period, and get used to a boot in the front of the vehicle rather than the back

that's stunning!! Agate suits it so much
I wasn't certain but having seen a white one ( my original choice against agate ) and the demo I then saw in agate, the second won hands down for me. White was just a little too "show-boaty" for me!
Now that I have the car it was definitely the best colour, for me at least.
Happy driving!
P
looks very classy Phil. Excellent choice - look forward to seeing it. I sold the 996 turbo over a year ago & have been driving a 325d coupe. Finding it too 'soft'. I recently put down a deposit on a new CGTS but now having second thoughts & will probably get a 997 GTS (in white lol). It will be good catch up. Maybe have a GTS meet up when i get mine
Andrew
Beautiful car, Phil. Agate goes really well with all the black. What did they tell you about running in? Mine's provisionally getting there Monday week and I want to be prepared for what I can and can't do!
I'm sure you'll love yours too Josh!
They didn't really highlight running in. When asked the question they said don't bother. The manual is a little vague, but basically don't use high engine speeds for the first 1800 miles, and try to do longer journeys.
I'll endeavour to keep the revs below 4000 rpm until 1000 miles and then increase in gentle steps until 2000 miles. After that, game on!
Are you using VTS? Activated mine yesterday. Clever bit of kit!
Planning a Euro tour around the Alps in July with the wife. Should be cool!
P
Sounds reasonable. Do have VTS on the car and not used it before, but have a Cobra tracker on my current one so imagine it's similar (?)
Seems to involve a serious-sounding man ringing me up asking if the car's been nicked whenever I go on a ferry...
Picked my number plate today. It's real!
I ended up using Admiral multi car insurance.
VTS for Porsche is the same service as cobra, so similar "lozenge" system.
Looking forward to seeing some pictures!
P
I'm with Admiral too, though I don't quite understand their pricing algorithms. They wanted over two grand to change the car on my policy, but if I took out a new one I ended up with a refund of thirty quid. Profoundly insane, but I'll take it!

That looks great
Exactly same colour as my GTS that I picked up on 2nd March and now run in with 1100 miles so enjoying now. Get lots of likes from people about Agate colour combo as bit more subtle than some colours. Used no oil at all yet which I guess is benefit of running in - car came with litre can of Mobil in trunk so guess some must use oil?Makes great noise and not even that thirsty 27mpg on motorway (probably even higher mpg at 70mph) . Sport plus is a bit brutal and can't see it getting used much day to day. Relaxed on motorway as 80 is about 2000 revs. Tyre roar is very loud on poor motorway surfaces but they are big tyres.

Be careful with Admiral insurance on cars with expensive optional extra, you are not covered for the cost of those options if the car gets stolen (God forbid). They still ask you to list every single option specified but they aren't covered, only the car in base spec.
I found this out a few years ago when buying an X5!i'd loaded up with £10k plus of options. Bloke I work with just bought a new Bentley V8S which he has insured with admiral...it was cheaper for him to buy gap insurance and use Admiral than another insurer.
Good point. Fortunately I did go for Gap insurance. Also got my wheels covered and my excess via
https://www.ala.co.uk
although there are others out there...
P
Yep. Autotrader gap insurance for Mrs Rat's new Mini, also via ALA I think. Was less than 1/3 of what Mini themselves wanted for it. I guess if insuring with Admiral one can reduce the insured value of the car to base price, which may cut the premium. Had this with my Boxster S. Was insured for what I bought it for so when I renewed cut the sum insured to what I thought (via Parkers) they'd pay me for it. Knocked about a hundred quid of the price.
Either that or tell them about all the extras, which in my case might take an embarrassingly long time. Wouldn't want to not get that passenger footwell net back...

I think you have to tell them the full spec regardless of whether they cover it or not. I suppose some scrote is more likely to nick a car with top spec wheels and metallic paint rather than standard wheels and a solid colour.

I would advise anyone to read the smallprint. I've just gone thru this on 3 cars.
1. If you need to claim the key is getting a swift repair at a porsche approved reparirer without invalidating the Porsche warranty. Genral mass market policies like Admiral,Directlin, Chirchill etc are not set up like this.
2. Most insurance companies make it quite difficult to achieve this and force you down their own approved repairer route. The smallprint will state that they can use parts equivalent to manufacturer specification but not manufacturer supplied parts per se.
3. many hi end insurance products designed for expensive cars like Porsche like Chubb, Zurich PC etc offer agreed value cover which negates the need for Gap insurance.
Seems mad to me to buy a Bentley and then insure it on the cheap. Generally you get what you pay for with insurance
4. same logic applies to GAP cover - you want a swift pay out without caveat.
This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
