The flatter spoke pattern, although looks great, also can restrict certain Big Brakes from being used(shouldn't be a concern on our cars though).
Leading evidence: 'Use (shouldn't be a concern' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check their site' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Occasionally they do popup on eBay for a bit less so you might want to check there too.

I think the GT3 may, in the long run, be a better value than the Cayman, but I still think the Cayman is one, if not THE most entertaining cars to drive on the planet and in GT4 trim with 911 horsepower level, its quite possible it will be the best "attainable" car to wear a Porsche badge ever.

Go to your dealer and put down a deposit and your name on the list for a GT4RS which Porsche will surely produce once the GT4 production run comes to an end in May 2016.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm sure this has been discussed on numerous occasions, but please humour me.
Looking for 18" wheel suggestions for my Arctic Silver 2002 C4S
I'm interested in 18", lighter than stock, preferably forged
I have a soft spot for BBS mesh style wheels, so right now LMs are looking good, but I'm not sure of their weight or if they look decent on the car (beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I know)
Anyhow, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, photos would be fantastic, so lets hear what you have, what you like...
Thanks in advance
Hey everyone! I'm in the market for my next car and I've been looking at a 997.1 Turbo or possibly a 997.1 GT3. That also puts me in the same price range as the GT4/Spyder. I love the rear of the Spyder and it makes that car so different than anything else.
Currently the GT3's are being priced above what I believe they should be. I would pay $80k, but some people are asking for over $90,000. I've seen one for 80k. If I can find a GT3 for the right price, I think this is the right choice because it has held its value very well since 2007!
But, then there's the GT4! This is the car everyone has been waiting for. It's new and I prefer the exterior and interior over the 997.1 GT3! The problem is that:
1. Depreciation. I assume they will be making this car year after year which will make it depreciate just like any other higher production Porsche? If it was limited to 2 years, then maybe this would be a good choice. I don't want to buy this car and then have it lose $15,000+ in value in 5 years. They may come out with manual GT3's in the near future which will make the GT4 depreciate quicker over the years.
I would hardly lose anything if I go with a GT3.
For example, the 987 Spyder has held its value really well and I would feel safe if I bought one.
2. GT4 vs. GT3. I bet the GT4 handles just as well and possibly quicker! Plus the new interior and sleek exterior! But I still have the chance to have a GT3! It has the 911 mystique and it's one of the top Porsche models!
I'm also considering a 987 Spyder and adding a TPC turbo.
Tough, but solid choices.
If LMs are in your budget, then I would take a close look at Champion and GMG for their wheels as they are very light and look incredible. Can't do much better than LMs if you ask me...
If you haven't got a deposit and an allocation on a GT4 already, you won't be getting one. Not without paying a hefty premium over MSRP. But I'll take a GT4 over a 997.1 GT3 any day.

GT4 is impossible to get...best bang for the buck
who knows what will happen in the future...it will probably appreciate while the 991 GT3 depreciates until their prices intersects years down the road
IMO easily a 140k car for 85k
You cant go wrong with either.

Agreed. I wish it were actually attainable though. If I could buy one at sticker, I would have done so. I made the mistake of not getting into bed earlier with the right dealership. Instead, I went local, and they're terrible to deal with in every way possible.
I'm sticking to my M4 until I can find the proper Porsche. For me, that's either a 997.2 GT3 RS, GT4, or next gen GT3 that's not a PDK (may never happen). No one knows where prices are going, but I'm holding off on the GT3RS until we get an answer from Porsche on the next GT3 being PDK only or not (unless a GT4 for the right price shows up). I enjoyed the Turbo, but once you drive a GT car, you never go back, and I'm not a huge straight line kind of guy anyway. I can get cheaper horsepower for that.
Is it expected that the Spyder will draw premiums near the GT4 levels?? I have been researching which is what lead me to this thread.
Saw GT4 sell for just over $140K on ebay. What is the $40K over sticker?
Thanks

The Spyder isn't a GT car, so I don't think it will.
$140k GT4... depends on the original sticker. I think they can hit $110k from factory. The cars are clearly worth $130's-$140's. I'm not sure but I assume it out performs the 911/GTS on the track... and that car is easily $130-$140k with options. I'm not at all surprised to see them going for this price, it's a steal even at $130k.
If they really stay around that, I can see Porsche majorly bumping the price of the GT3 next iteration (to $150-$160's)... especially if they offer a manual.
There's a nice Sapphire Blue GT4 on Ebay right now. Its interesting as I haven't seen many GT4's on Ebay and so its hard to tell what they are selling for.
BBS LM's are one of the sexiest wheels IMO. But with that said, they aren't the lightest that BBS makes and they are definitely played out these days with way too many knock-off's that can be seen on even Honda's. The flatter spoke pattern, although looks great, also can restrict certain Big Brakes from being used(shouldn't be a concern on our cars though).
My BBS RS-GT's are lighter than the LM's but I'm not too fond of the wheel bolts and the less flat spokes compared to the LM's.
I've recently picked up some Champion RG5's that I'll be running this summer. You can't beat 37lbs for wheel/tire combo for 19's.
If you have BBS LM budget, I would seriously consider the Champion line of Forged wheels.
What about RG-Rs
Are they available in 18" 996 C4S/Turbo fitment?
I do like the look of the Champion wheels though, thanks for the input
Are they available in 18"?
How do yjry compare $$ wise?
I guess I should just check their site
Thanks again

BBS has severely cut down on their RGR's production and is only available to certain fitments now(I'm assuming left overs).
I have the RGR's on my wife's BMW and have first witnessed the strength of a good quality forged wheel. She got hit sideways at 35mph, broke the entire rear suspension and trailing arm. Wheel had a slight dime sized ding on the lip but otherwise was straight and balanced out. Thank God as they don't sell those anymore for her car.
You can expect to pay between $3k-4k for the wheels(18" and 19"). Occasionally they do popup on eBay for a bit less so you might want to check there too.
