Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys, I was just wondering how to get these beasts off the line quickly for 0-60 runs and 1/4mile runs. I've done a few tests on private roads and launched at about 3K-3.5K rpm either way Im getting severe axle tramping the car just 'bounces' on the spot so i let off the throttle and re-apply, by which time I've wasted anything upto 5secsonds! Obviously PSM IS OFF. Can anyone give advice on this please. THANKS!

POST 2Original post

good question :!: what's it like launching above and below 3.5k rpm ??? go higher or lower ??????????

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

All I get is diff bounce!! If i use the handbrake and hold it on the bite then drop the handbrake the clutch slips so badly I get no grip and im going all the way thru 2nd and 3rd gear just ripping the clutch to shreds!! Can some1 elaborate on the technique plz!!

POST 4Original post

As the axle tramp is as bad as you describe, it sounds like your shock absorbers or geo set up needs an upgrade. In my experience a well set up Porsche absorbs tramp well and accelarates from rest smoothly. The weight above the driving wheels normally limits the bounce.

POST 5Original post

Personally speaking guys, I'd stick to nice take-offs from a rolling start in 2nd as too many launches from zero will destroy your clutch and/or enhance the risk of breaking a drive shaft.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I had the car fully geo'd and 4 new tyres a day after buying it.

POST 7Original post

I did a couple of quarter mile open days at SantaPod this year, the best method I found was to launch at about 2,400 to 2,600 and as soon as the clutch is fully engaged, floor it. Trying to launch at higher revs just spins the wheels and burns the clutch. Below 2,400 rpm the is a real risk of bogging down on takeoff.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you VERY VERY much!! This is the kind of knowledge i was hoping for!! I will give it a try soon
