Too dark to take cover off and check now, but I think I have ended up with a set of European specs.

The right hand side now has a lower, more defined line whereas the left hand side seems to kick up more (without a defined line) - couldn't really tell as I had to use my hand and long black coat to guage!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I noticed that my newly-installed litronics beam kicks up (or slants up) to the right. Should it not slant up to the left in the UK? If so, how can I change this?

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Some googling later....apparently there is a switch in the housing which lets you flip to 'tourist' mode (or mine might already be in tourist mode?), which slants the beam to the left. My question would be, would the lights be operating in a degraded manner or is the switch (as I'd expect) and economics convenience by porsche to manaufacture the same unit for 2 markets (and therefore no degradation in light)?

POST 3Original post

No, it is not right. Litronics are built as handed (LHD or RHD), but can be adjusted to "Tourist" mode when driven in an alternate country. This is equivalent to fitting continental driving lamp converters/masks so as not to blind other road users. It does not change intrinsic handedness. (it just shutters down the kick-up to flat) I would double check these are actually UK/RHD spec Litronics (different part no.). UK spec MUST kickup to the left as below:

POST 4Original post

Litronics have "flattening" shutters before the projector lens. Continental (Tourist) Conversion: Remove the backing of the light unit - unclip push clips. There should be on the back of the reflector a small metal lever. O or T . T stands for tourist and thats what it should point to for continental driving Scan of bulb change diagram on page 166 of 996.1 manual:

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

 Too dark to take cover off and check now, but I think I have ended up with a set of European specs. Could you tell me whether the adjustment is available on both sides, so maybe I can make the left hand side kick up and right hand side level down? Thanks for your help, GT4.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

perhaps crisis over - both sides have the flick switch and I have changed from O to T. The flick seems to alter the angle of the blade inside the projector I guess. The right hand side now has a lower, more defined line whereas the left hand side seems to kick up more (without a defined line) - couldn't really tell as I had to use my hand and long black coat to guage!

POST 7Original post

Well, I guess the next MOT will sort out any doubt.
