Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Finally got this sorted-Discovered the tyres fitted were not N4, had them removed and sourced N4's which dispite the Tyre dealers telling me that there was no difference they were different as the side walls were a different profile to the other E4 rated tyres.

Suggestion
Its just that issues may have arisen with the original Michelin tyre (for e.g only - too high a wear rate or poor grip in certain conditions) and they have modified tyre to change some characteristics of the original tyre.

Thanks for all your advice guys, I have got the tyres changed today for N4 rated Pzero Rossos - Thank god for this forum, could have come unstuck otherwise!
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just had a set of Pzero Rosso tyres fitted to my C2 996-911 and cant find a N4 rating on them but can see a E4 rating. Is this a big problem as I read on the tyres section of this web site that the tryes must be N-rated
Had some new tyres fitted to my c4s and the garage that serviced the car said that they were not n rated ,but they are its just that the n rating is very small, maybe you have missed yours? Mike
Did you ask for 'N' Rated tyres in the first instance?
I believe it will only be an issue if the tyres are the wrong size and speed rating, or you have an official Porsche Warranty.
I did ask for N4 Rating- Dont have a Porsche warranty and they are the correct size and Speed rating 92 Y which I believe are for 186mph +
I tell you owning a porsche isnt easy-Why cant my life be simple.....
Pretty sure Pirelli have large N4 you can't miss, unlike some, so it sounds like they've not supplied you the correct tyres. You need to take it up with the fitters, argument being can you prove what you asked for?
That's correct the N4 is writ large! First thing the OPC checked on mine at weekend as any other tyre invalidates Porsche warranty. If you don't have this warranty then I guess it doesn't matter as long as they meet the speed requirement :dont know:
I have N4 but dont have OPC warranty

Thanks for all your advice guys, I have got the tyres changed today for N4 rated Pzero Rossos - Thank god for this forum, could have come unstuck otherwise!
Off to Centre of Gravity tomorrow to have the car checked and set up so hopefully my 911 will really handle properly then!

i think he means the side wall shape as i'm not sure but would think the n rated tires have stiffer side wall for better handling therefore the walls look squarer

Had the 911 OPC health check offer last weekend and amongst some trivial repair work, N rated tyres were commented as missing. The tyres are 3 months old and the service guy said it's not worth changing them until they are worn down. I thought it just related to actual top speed?
The Porsche N approval is more than just top speed. The respective tyre manufacturers have worked with Porsche to manufacture the N approved tyre to have characteristics that Porsche have requested. It doesn't mean a N rated tyre is better than a non-N rated one, its just that the characteristics may suit the car better. For example, the sidewalls of the N rated Pirellis may be slightly stiffer on the rear tyres to take into account of the rear weight bias. Also to make the car more friendly to drive Porsche may ( and this is only an example, not a fact) ask for a specific set of N ratings for a tyre to have slightly softer and grippier compound on the rear than front to increase rear end grip and reduce the risk of oversteer. This may explain why Conti SportContact2s on the cars seems to wear really quickly on the rear.
The N rating for each brand indicates the tyre manufacturer has that particular tyre model approved for use in Porsches. It starts as N0. Over time, if an improvement is made to the tyre then the update will be a consecutive number i.e next one will be N1 and so on.
N3 Michelin PS2 indicate that the manufacturer has made changes 3 times (e.g compound or underlying carcass) to the the original N0 tyre. The Pirelli N0 hasn't had any update but that doesn't mean the tyre is inferior to the MIchelin N3. Its just that issues may have arisen with the original Michelin tyre (for e.g only - too high a wear rate or poor grip in certain conditions) and they have modified tyre to change some characteristics of the original tyre.
