Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suspected cause
The only difference being that I did the cats and boxes myself and then took it into a workshop so that they could deal with the header bolts - it turned out to be a good decision as 8 of 12 bolts snapped when they tackled it.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

In preparation for forth coming mot thought I would just do a couple of jobs . Fit new exhaust plugs ,coil packs air flow sensor ,and a couple of small jobs !
Wow never again will I ever fit an exhaust on an 11year old car started at 7 this morning Had the cats off in under 45 mins feeling smug moved on to back boxes. Off easy ! Now for headers ( been soaking them in penetrating oil every day ) here we go get ready bolt 1 easy bolts 2 to 12
Snap snap snap. That's alright me thinks when I have managed to get the manifolds off I will weld a nut on the end and easy( brother had nicked welder and lost mask hour round trip to get new one) return home set up and start to nut weld ! Wait Amin. What's that snap snap this went on for the next 4 hrs as slowly 4 studs gave in and Came out the remaining ones
Had to be drilled and tapped apart from one l/h rear had to be ground out with pencil grinder the other option was remove some plumbing to gain axces ,not a chance of wanting to do that so spent the best part of b4 hours slowly grinding out 1 bolt at last done quick get that new exhaust on The refit took a little over an hour. Then a quick plug change and other bits and bobs. Then start her up ops it was 1 am and it was a little louder
Than expected ( teach me for getting it off e bay ) never mind only tyres and steering wheel to do tomorrow then fingers crossed it will pass on Monday. Moral of this story buy a new car every yeanr then no mot .

Likewise they had to drain the cooling system to get at the LHS rear header bolt (for drilling out).
If it makes you feel any better, your wallet is probably in better shape, but my sense of humour is probably in better shape since I didn't have to do the messing around lol.

Ummmm :?: ,
A bit of hassle after 11 years vs losing £15k+ over a year in depreciation.
I don't think so. :judge:
I suppose it does support an argument for buying a 1.5 year old car every year though.
Unfortunately either way they're not decisions I'll ever have to make - not regarding Porsches anyway.
Been there done that. Well some of it.
I read allot before hand and trusted the crusty bit to a stud extracting firm.
Hats off to you though!
12 more years of worry free exhaust bolt issues that's if you have fitted some quality bolts.
Converted it to stud and nut as had loads left ofer from bike racing days
Took it for a drive wow way to loud you can only do 10 mph or over a 100 any thing in between just kills you think the silencers need re packing they must be empty think I will leave that for next weekend and get some ear plugs foe this week !!
