Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Some months ago, i had to use the emergency method to open the clamshell, to get to the ecu now I previously had a fully working top. So I put the clamshell in its max up position set the potentiometer to 6.2k and it wont budge Ive reset it no less than 3 times, the clamshell closed micro switch is tested good ( changed state when clicked ) my durametric says 5 failed attempts and nothing happens if I try to calibrate can anyone shed light on some help..

POST 2Original post

I dont have a cab or durametric. But i think i have read it has problems calibrating or it doesnt work to calibrate the top. Maybe some google searching will reveal some info or if im wrong.

POST 3Original post

I don't think the Durametric will be a lot of help in diagnosing a convertible top malfunction... There is a lot of things that have to happen to make the top operate. I don't really see how anyone can do it without PIWIS, ( unless it's a really really simple problem like low fluid or a blown fuse/bad motor) PIWIS has many test functions and all the values of all the switches available... That said the most common problem of a top that "just wont work" is the hand brake switch . The hand brake must be pulled for the top to work, and the brake light on the dash should illuminate. Does the brake light come on when hand brake is set?

POST 4Original post

Check fuses? Had a couple things go crazy with my car and after ****ting my pants. Dawned on me to check fuses. Hopefully its something that easy.

POST 5Original post

I was going to say make sure the hand brake is up as well. I sometimes find myself asking "way isn't the top working" only to notice I forgot to pull the handbrake. I'm hoping it's something as simples as that for you. Good luck PS - get some spacers on those wheels....LOL

POST 6Original post

One quick check is to see if your side mirrors work via the buttons. They share the same fuse as the top.
