Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Since fitting Gert's sports exhaust which has 100 cell cats fitted the car sometimes (by no means all the time) puts up the psm and abs error messages under hard acceleration. It is definitely the cats that are doing it as it began very shortly after it was fitted. Is there any remedy to this? Can the O2 sensors be fooled somehow so as to stop this? Its only a minor inconvenience and disappears when restarted but would prefer to get rid of it. Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

Hi I am no expert, but how would the CAT's affect the PSM/ABS? More likely is that a speed/ABS sensor is throwing a fault. Coincidences do happen and the sensors can fail gradually and throw faults intermittently. All the best Berni

POST 3Original post

This is true! But also I think the fact that 100cell cats will cause your boost to go upto 0.9 or even 1bar of boost means the PSM and ABS are working to keep u in a straight line and from spinning the wheels under hard acceleration. Especially these days as its cold and damp. But I would have your ABS sensors checked anyhow.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The problem is that the 996 seems to throw the psm/abs fault message for a very wide range of things including some MAF problems! I will clean the MAF and will have someone look at the sensors as my previous Carrera had one go. Yaz is correct that the new exhaust and cats do cause the car to boost up to 0.8 and 0.9. However even if the car is not in optimal gear for acceleration the error message can come up suggesting wheelspin detection isn't occurring. Does anyone know if or how you can get an error code from the car which might narrow things down?
