Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

A couple of months ago I had a problem with the CEL and the engine hunting - I whipped out the MAF sensor and cleaned it with IPA, reset the ECU and all was fine again.

Suggestion

Re: the MAF cleaning it is really just prolonging the inevitable so probably better off replacing it - get the CEL codes read if you didn't last time they should be stored in the DME just to make sure its not anything else.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Having just had a little 'un I must admit that my C2 hasn't been getting quite as much use as I'd like - most days it's the 1.5 miles to work and back and it's not even fully warmed by the time I get there (and therefore I tend to keep it under 2k) A couple of months ago I had a problem with the CEL and the engine hunting - I whipped out the MAF sensor and cleaned it with IPA, reset the ECU and all was fine again. It happened again after a couple of months so I did the same again - and again, it's sorted for now. So, I'm think the car isn't really built for my micro-commute - I also just checked the oil filler and there's a bit of 'mayo' there (as well as condensation inside the cap), is this likely just a sympton of the same problem? On a separate note, I've had the car 7 months now and a few weeks back I noticed a white clouding on the lower front bumper/spoiler. I gave it a wash and it didn't really come off - put a little WD40 on it and it seemed to remove the opacity a little but it's showing back through after a couple of weeks. Anyone seen anything like this?

POST 2Original post

the mayo is normal and a symptom of short journeys - keep your eye on the water level though. Re: the MAF cleaning it is really just prolonging the inevitable so probably better off replacing it - get the CEL codes read if you didn't last time they should be stored in the DME just to make sure its not anything else. I'm assuming you are talking about the black inserts on your bumper?, these grey with age you can either replace them or wipe them over with a silicone type plastic cleaner

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Smj. No, it's not the inserts - it's the lower lip, you can see a white 'frosting' on the blue.
