Whip out the light clusters and remove the rear PU.....yes the hoses can sometimes be replaced with it in-situ but for the sake of 20 mins it ain't worth the grief and risk of not having a seal/clip seated correctly or damaged while inserting the metal ends at an angle.

However, inspecting my hoses from my turbo to the intercooler, they looked very tired and "baggy".

Just makes sure you slightly lube the O-rings(buy new ones) and use new clips to seal and secure during the installation to avoid any leaks.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I had my car in last weekend at Porsche for a complimentary inspection. My TT got more or less a clean bill of health other than a slightly leaky AC condenser However, inspecting my hoses from my turbo to the intercooler, they looked very tired and "baggy". So I'm going to treat my car to a nice new set of Silicon hoses and DV's. I've been looking at the hoses, and there seems to be quite a big variation in price. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on the different brands here: Forge £215 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORGE-SILICON...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d2ba0dcce Samco £391 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SAMCO-SILICON...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4833c4722a DesignTek £390 http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod1583/Silicone-Hoses-DesignTek-Porsche-996-Turbo---GT2/ Venair £425 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VenAir-Porsch...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f02737126 Anyone had any experience with any of these? Any particular ones to stay away from? Cheers, Doug

POST 2Original post

Hi lazysurf, i dont have a turbo,i have a c4s but can comment on the hoses and dump valves. Done quite a lot of tuning on my 3 door cosworth and can say that SAMCO are the way to go and for your dump valves go with the forge ones, very high quality and they should be rebuildable, cheers mark

POST 3Original post

The "barb" profile on the Samco units are a little bit longer than the Forge units and as such will stay secure at >1.2 bar boost pressures and/or rapid on/off boost which puts strain on the plumbing, esp on the lower intercooler necks......re less chance of a blow-off. Just makes sure you slightly lube the O-rings(buy new ones) and use new clips to seal and secure during the installation to avoid any leaks. Whip out the light clusters and remove the rear PU.....yes the hoses can sometimes be replaced with it in-situ but for the sake of 20 mins it ain't worth the grief and risk of not having a seal/clip seated correctly or damaged while inserting the metal ends at an angle.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

sounds like the Samco ones are the way forward. Marky - DV's I bought are Forge ones  wizard993 - cheers for the advice. didn't realise that the hoses would have different connectors. also, will make sure i remove the rear PU, i've been meaning to do this for a while to have a good clean behind there and see if anything needs replacing. any suggestions where to get new o-rings and clips? do I just order them from an OPC?

Yes they are not that expensive(but important parts)
