Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys, It seems to have just started yesterday as the temperature dropped, but my steering wheel is making a quite audible moaning noise as i turn right or left at slow speeds. It is not the 'full lock' noise but a general moaning. I had the steering rack replaced with a reconditioned one about 18 months (3000 miles ago). Could the cold weather have something to do with it or is it a tell tale sign of something worse? Any help is greatly appreciated. Regards peter

POST 2Original post

Mine does the same! I had a new rack fitted about similar milage ago, say 3000, with new track rods, inner rods and everything! It moans mostly when turning left, I have no idea! M :?:

POST 3Original post

Well I'll be blowed! I have had the same thing happen to mine this week when I turn into my drive. Never heard it before and like you say only at low speeds. Any thoughts from the gurus? :?:

POST 4Original post

From my perspective it has to be something from the hydraulic lines up as everything from there out is new! I wonder whether it could be the steering pump? M :?:
