Suggestion

I think I'd put rubber gloves on, take the plug out when engine cold, then put it back in after an unmeasured quart or so of oil drains out into a clean pan.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Had my AOS replaced after it failed. They overfilled my oil, and indicated it wouldn't be a problem. I took a long right turn, and the idle was off for a bit. I replaced my air filter tonight, and the bottom had engine oil. Could the engine oil be there due to the overfill? Or is it likely AOS related? Took out about 1/3 quart, still on overfull!

POST 3Original post

at an Indy. Looks like they also forgot to put back a bolt forward of the AOS, which might be more of a harness secure, but still.... Not too impressed...

POST 4Original post

It never ceases to amaze me how people can under achieve my low expectations..carl

POST 5Original post

better find another indy.. have em drain the oil. your MAF sensor cost 229.00 dollar if i recall right. and it dont like oil.. Lemon

POST 6Original post

You don't think it's AOS related, but rather overfill?

POST 7Original post

You don't need to drain all the oil. Remove the filter canister. It will hold a small amt of oil. Rinse and repeat until you're at the proper level - which is a bar below the full line. An over fill of oil can do all kinds of bad things. Any mechanic who says it's OK is not a good mechanic.

POST 8Original post

Don't know that I like the "empty oil filter cannister" suggestion. That means there will be an air bubble in the oiling system when the engine is running. I think I'd put rubber gloves on, take the plug out when engine cold, then put it back in after an unmeasured quart or so of oil drains out into a clean pan.

POST 9Original post

Taking the filter out is OK and part of Porsche's standard oil change procedure. It refills every time you turn the key.
