BUT bizarely having been in the Far East and India for 3 months and not getting much use apart from a weekly potter around during that time the "worm" has disappeared again!!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

Yep back to normal now, with just two dots still showing where they shouldn't but I can live with it!

No unique explicit quoted action; no causal link assigned

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys Over the last month my A/C Display has develped a bizarre sort of "Worm" (best thing I could think of to describe it!!) pattern on it, its getting bigger slowly! Really Odd, like a snail trail over the screen from the inside! So now the snail trail thing lights up! Is there any way of changing this? Dont really want to buy a new unit! Very strange, my Audi A6 had the red version of this display, and it did not do it even after 180,000 miles! Anyone else had this!? Its hard to photograph! Regards Edward

POST 2Original post

Your LCD display is a gonna. I have seen an article where it was replaced with an AUDI one at a much reduced cost to that of a Porsche one. It is a pretty simple job to do a straight swap if you can buy a new display from somewhere. TB

POST 3Original post

This might be the article you were thinkin of: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?/tutorials/article/28-cracked-or-bleeding-climate-control/

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I thought! BUT bizarely having been in the Far East and India for 3 months and not getting much use apart from a weekly potter around during that time the "worm" has disappeared again!! Really odd! Anyone know why it does this (and why it would go again!!)? Cheapest Porsche fix ever!! :thumb: :eh!:

POST 5Original post

Perhaps the LCD froze in the extreme conditions in Feb 2010 and broke through from the original template. Now it has slowly returned to normal?

POST 6Original post

Dont know about the Cheapest Porsche fix ever.... three months in the far east sounds rather pricy to me

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yep back to normal now, with just two dots still showing where they shouldn't but I can live with it! Its slowly got bigger over the 2 years of owner ship, and then just disappeared!

POST 8Original post

you have just driven through the TWILGHT ZONE 8) Strange it's cleared up, hope it doesn't come back over the winter. If it does then maybe this will be of use http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pors...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories TB

POST 9Original post

I had mine replaced last week after the LCD just became a blob with no numbers. Mine was a cosmetic replacement as all the info is duplicated on the PCM display but it looked horrid so had to be done. The bad news ........ Needless to say you can't just replace the screen, you do have to replace the whole unit. The really bad news ............. £364.13 + VAT = £427.85 plus fitting. A bit of good news - IF you've got a warranty - it should be covered.

POST 10Original post

The link above is for the replacement LCD screen but an OPC wont do a repair. Hope you got yours done under warranty T8. TB

POST 11Original post

I did - apart from having to contribute £80 towards the OPC labour cost. ps. The OPC parts guys were surprised to find that a matt and a gloss surround were available as they'd never seen a gloss one. Nor have I. Has anyone got one?
