Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Started to get intermittant brake pad warning light on, eventually stayed on, pads were low but not fully gone but changed as had everything off. No wear yet to the wire sensor, but fitted new, checked rears at the same time all ok. Light is still on, cleaned terminals on sensor plug still no avail. Any ideas of comman wear points or easy way to identify break in wire (or even its route) as i guess that a wire has dry jointed somewhare causing the light to stay on and actually is not to do with the pad or sensors. Thanks Chris

POST 2Original post

It might also be a wet joint- moisture in a connection plug. Otherwise just go for it and re trace the circuit checking all cabling and connectors.

POST 3Original post

I have the same problem - after I wash the car - so would agree with Achtung. Definitely not wear as I have new pads and discs. I'm not sure where the connection plugs are (are they easily accessible?) so I've just stopped washing it instead.

POST 4Original post

Good man, not worth taking any risk with soapy water 8) TB

POST 5Original post

If you have the old sensor(OP heads to the bin) then do this Cut the pad sensors off the old sensor wires and twist the wires together and tape. Unplug/remove the new sensor and re-fit the old one. Drive the car for a few days. If the light stays off your new sensor is a dud and it should be replaced.

POST 6Original post

What's that mean? Some kind of additive? :dont know: Thanks Wizard, I think I understand...

POST 7Original post

Am I right in thinking that the sensor gets worn through and opens the circuit to illuminate the warning light? TB
