Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

At low speeds when turning the steering wheel I am hearing a whirring noise which sounds like something needs to be oiled. Any ideas?

POST 2Original post

I could be wrong but I suspect this is just the power steering working hard because you are steering at low speed which pits more load on the electric motor. If in doubt take it to an OPC or specialist to get checked out.

POST 3Original post

check your pump oil level mine was low and made the same noise..

POST 4Original post

When did you last have your power steering fluid changed? My 993 was making odd noises when at full lock, so I changed my fluid and the noises have gone away. The fluid was so old it had turned black when it should be a green colour!
