Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 986Forum: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Greetings, I took the Boxster out to stretch its legs on Sunday, and received an email from Allstate (I have the DriveWize thing in the car...I know, I know ) shortly thereafter that the car threw the Code P1691. After some reading, it seems to indicate, possibly among other things, that the CEL bulb is out. If I turn the key to the accessory position however, the CEL does light up. I'm not sure what beyond the CEL bulb this fault might indicate. Anything else I should be checking, and does it need to be addressed urgently?

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After a bit more reading, I did have the gauge cluster out of the car, so could that have triggered the code because the CEL wasn't seen by the car with the cluster out?

Sounds reasonable. Clear the code and see if it comes back.

POST 4Original post

P1691 is for the interruption in the wiring of the MIL light.

POST 6Original post

I wonder how much my insurance would go up if I had that drive wise thing? I'm thinking a lot

I know...Ironically, it's my Tacoma that might get me in trouble!
