Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi folks, I have a couple of quick questions. Firstly, my windows can get a bit sticky when it is humid. When the weather is dry, if you pull the door handle, the window goes down nicely, but when it is humid it sticks a bit. Is there anything that I can put on the seals to stop that? Second one is concerning the spoiler (C4S). It sqeaks a bit at the very top. I can't hear it when I drive, but if I am static and try to raise it manually you can hear it. Similar question, for this one, I think I should be able to put some sort of grease on the pistons (sorry not sure what they are called) but which type? many thanks

POST 2Original post

freddynonos, for the spoiler I used some white lithium grease which did the trick also appears not to end up splattered all over the rump when you first take it for a spin afterwards! WD40 not recommended!!!

Use silicon grease sparingly on the door seals :thumb: 1Z Einszett Rubber Care Stick Gummi Pflege is good stuff

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks to you both, will get those and should hopefully sort the car out.

POST 5Original post

+1 on what gixxeruk said might be best to spray onto a rag and then wipe on to the seals with the silicon or it can end up making everything greasy! :?:

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

looking at some pics on ebay, it looks like it comes with a sponge pad so should be ok to apply easily where you want http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EINSZETT-GUMM...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5adc696b77

POST 7Original post

my passenger window on my 1991 964 C2 does exactly the same when it's wet outside, or has been washed... won't go down unless i open the door. doesn't putting grease on the seals get it all over the windows, or am I missing the point here?? thanks, Gareth

POST 8Original post

Gareth, If you use the silicon spay or a rubber refurbisher it re lubricates without making them wet greasy if that makes sense. I am sure one of the experts can explain what exactly is happening but in effect as the rubber dries out, looses its natural oils it gets sticky. Hence a light regrease and all is good! :?:

POST 9Original post

thanks jester! is this the horizontal seal at the top of the door panel?

POST 10Original post

Gareth probably not the right thing but i did every seal in sight! :? having a cab meant it took a while!
