Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

You can try cleaning both switches with electrical contact cleaner, but I would just replace them.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The trunk ajar light on my dash is lit up but both the front and rear trunk are both sealed tight. The light flashes on and off as I'm going down the road. I popped the front and rear trunks and closed them again but he light on the dash still comes on and off at random. I'll have to wait till after the weekend before I get a chance to look into it. I assume there is a microswitch on the front and rear latch that trips the interior lights as well. Has anyone had this problem before? Thanks. Ernie

POST 2Original post

Fairly common. You can try cleaning both switches with electrical contact cleaner, but I would just replace them.
