Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Everyone, I hope this question doesn’t annoy everyone as it’s probably been asked a million times! Is the Steve Wong chip worth it or not? I’ve already done the exhaust system, suspension and brakes are also done. Now hoping to get some power out of the engine without having to open it up - Yet. Any info  chip will be much appreciated Thanks

POST 2Original post

I did it to a Z3 many yrs back... yeah-nah. what car is it?

POST 4Original post

Did my 964 many years ago - possible slight improvement mid-range, but hard to tell. Exhaust bypass was best mod I’ve ever done while leaving the motor stock.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

From further online research it seems that it works well with a light weight fly wheel conversation.

POST 6Original post

If I remember correctly,  You have to send him the build specs, mods of your engine and he will tune a chip to suit . But the Wong one is no good

It works. And it's noticable. On my 964, I fittting a primary bypass and a Wong chip. The extra torque down low was VERY noticable. I didn't upgrade the flywheel for a lightweight one. The chip is likely the best value hp mod you can do to a 964 before opening it up. (and once you do that, all mods are drug money expensive)

Thanks Mike, Sounds like it’s worth giving  go. Once chip and lightweight flywheel are Installed I will also update. Cheers

Pretty much same experience, ‘drivability’ improved markedly, seemed to improve mid range torque / throttle response.  I’d do it in a heartbeat.  Coincidentally just about to chip (RSBarn) my 968 plus airbox mod, has a s/s ‘zorst. Report will follow. Cheers,
