I've been running the
GT3 throttle body
along with the
IPD plenum
for a few years now without issues. I had my
AOS
go out on the freeway and I was able to drive it just long enough to exit and get her parked. Ever since my
AOS
went out I've been having strange idle issues. Installed the new
AOS
and cleaned everything out.
Issue 1: At start up after driving it will lag or stall. I will hit the pedal and it wont rev correctly. Then it "clears" and drives fine.
Issue 2: At idle the rpm gauge will bounce between 1-200 rpms. Almost sounds like I have a cam.
I cleaned the throttle body and replaced my EVO airfilter with my spare. Is there anywhere else I should look? Vacuum leak? Does this engine have an Idle Air Control Valve or Throttle Position Sensor?? Is there a way I can test (ohm meter) to see if the throttle body is still good? Should I open the side of the throttle body and clean out the electronics and re grease? Can my underdrive pulley add to the weird idle?
Thank you!
You might want to take off the rubber intake hose and examine the inside of your throttle body and air intake tubing for oil. If you had
AOS
issues, you might not have noticed at first, on down shifting, the air flow goes backwards to a certain degree. Oil may have gotten on your air/mass/flow sensor. Please see thread "Please help cleaning the
MAF sensor
, post #9 from Intubator. That should help.
Screams vacuum leak, so a couple thoughts:
a. Remove TB and clean with TB cleaner. If the
AOS
barfed some gunk into it before it died you could have oil turds now.
b. Check for leaks where the rigid vacuum line from the
AOS
connects to the IPD TB, as it is easy to not reset fully.
c. Check the other rigid line end for the aluminum end
cap
.
d. Consider cleaning the MAF.
Let us know what works.
Definitely clean the MAF.
When you go with the
IPD plenum
, one of the hoses from the
AOS
is blocked off that used to connect to the stock plenum. Has the "cork" fallen out of that hose? That could be causing a vacuum issue if it did.
Cleaned everything and it was a bad MAF. Replaced and cleared codes. She runs great.
