Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi, I just replaced the warter pump on my 987, and I was going to drive around for a while wihout the rear plastic panel that fits under the car to make sure there are no leaks or issues. The other 2 -- the mid and front panels -- are still attached. Seems like a workable plan, but I thought I'd ask around to see if there are any problems that could occur. PS: I won't be exceeding 50mph during this test period. Thanks, Rob

POST 2Original post

Yes, you can. In fact some people leave it off permanently for better cooling--but that leaves alot of areas for debirs to collect. Justin

POST 3Original post

You can do it. Aero is compromised and you don't want to do it long term because you can get corrosion and crud under things that will eventually cause corrosion after it's buttoned up, but for a short trip in fair weather, it's fine. Don't, however, drive the car with the engine cover off! You can leave the carpet off the engine cover, but if you leave the metal cover off, crud gets sucked into the car from below RAPIDLY, especially if the road, driveway etc. is at all dusty. It's 5 screws. Worth it to put the cover on. Ask me how I know. :wall:
