Gents, my CS failed emissions here in NV for ODB evap & OXY Sensor. Durametric shows fuel tank ventilation & Oxygen sensors not ready. No
DME
codes. I did replace the battery but its been driven quite a bit since then.
I also drove the supposed ODB reset cycle to no avail.
Any suggestions on trouble shooting this?
Do you have any sort of ECU flash? It's not uncommon for the OXY sensor to show not ready though, even on standard ECU. If there are no codes I don't see how they can say there is a problem though, perhaps their test equipment is in error.
My test equipment shows the same issues as the states does. I do have a flash that modifies the timing maps for the turbo but it shouldn't affect the ODB routines.
My guess is that your flash also puts your O2 sensor into a not-ready state so it doesn't trip the pre-cat warm-up P421 and P431 codes. Can you flash back to stock and then test your car again to see if it is the ECU flash causing the issue?
I fixed it!! I had a loose hose clamp from the plenum check valve to the gas tank vent causing a vacuum leak! All systems now show ready.
Just some info for anyone else in the same situation
Now that states are doing OBD2 emissions testing they use your computers onboard computer to do the monitoring rather than the old sniffer tubes.
When your battery is disconnected or Error codes reset all of your computers emissions testing systems go out readiness and must go through self check before going back into readiness (ready to monitor emissions). A few short drives is usually enough to set readiness.
If you computers systems are not going to readiness they are not able to monitor emissions and therefore a state inspection is not possible. Texas will allow one system not in readiness for a state inspection. This prevents people from resetting their codes and quickly getting the inspection done.
Your computer will not throw any error codes related to a particular system till that system goes into readiness.
I have the same problem with my car. It does have a TPC turbo but TPC claims there is nothing in the programming to prevent readiness.
Porsche
basically told me they had no interest in helping me solve the problem because the turbo completely changes the dynamics of the car. They wouldn't even connect it to
PIWIS
. The
next
most likely problem for me is the carbon canister purge valve. I have just changes it out and will know shortly if my problem is fixed.
