Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello
Just checking in to say hello and thanks for letting me join the forum.
I have recently scratched an itch and finally purchased a 2002 996C4.
Car is most definitely a fixer upper and won't win any awards any time soon, but great fun and I quite enjoy the odd bit of spannering. That said, the 996 is a bit of a dark art to me, so really appreciate any advice people can give.
Previously owned a 944turbo and also own a 968 which I have undertaken quite a bit of restorative work to in the last few years.
I'm based near Leighton Buzzard and look forward to hopefully meeting up with some of you soon.
Pete
Welcome Pete!
That's a nice Pork cv you have. The 968 is an itch I've never scratched despite wanting to for a long time.
All but the best 996s are projects, that's the best part, bringing them back up to scratch.
I look forward to seeing what you're up to. Loads of owners threads on here and a good FAQ section you can green info from. :thumb:
As above Pete.
You've got the right car if you like doing a bit of spannering and mods. These cars are so easy to work on (apart from some of the engine jobs) and there's so many cheap mods you can do that give the car that little bit extra Porsche didn't. Parts are dirt cheap too if you do your homework.
Is it a coupe, cab or targa? Man or Auto?
Thanks very much for the warm welcome.
It's great to hear there is an appreciation for projects as well as the excellent examples.
I'll figure out how to post some pics up and will keep you posted about the bits and bobs that need doing.
Work done so far;
Brakes bled
Replace coffin arm
Front arb drop link
CV gaiter
MAF sensor - (revenge of the k and n filter)
Stuff to do;
Rear ARB fitted wrong way around (weird)
Usual indicator not holding
Refuses to lock (thinking passenger door lock) either that or it wants to be pinched!
Electric seat blowing fuses ( thinking wiring harness pinched at join or incredibly heavy previous owner!)
Most weirdly of all has 2 different headlights. 1 xenon and 1 halogen) likely previous unexpected meeting with stationery object me thinks.

:welcome: to 911uk Pete.
Looking forward to hearing of your progress and to seeing pics.
We've got some great 'project meisters' on here. 2 of them have already said hello.
Thanks again for the welcome.
Hopefully the following link works;

And some recent 968 tinkering here;

Hope these work.

Welcome!
I like the 4S front end... yes you are right you have one litronic light, one standard.
Looks like a modest to-do list all things considered, evidently you are experienced technically so you will find the 996 easy to work on. Lots on line (pelican parts is always a good starting point and youtube), and the guys on here are knowledgeable and will chip in with advice.
We love a project, so post up an ownership thread!
Hello Pete,
Am also in Leighton Buzzard (well, just outside). Have only recently bought my 996.2, which also needs a few bits doing. Will have to compare notes.
Let me know if you fancy a meet-up.
Cheers
Ben
Hi Pete.
Congrats on your recent purchase, a cab as well - perfect for the spring :thumb:
I have a N/S/F litronics headlamp unit with washer jet. Needs a couple of bits sorting (chrome blistered on washer cover) but they can be mega bucks so drop me a PM if you need to bud :thumb:
