Ok...Back when I had a Toyota Tacoma, I replaced my oil plug with a quick change plug (see below). It made changing the oil very easy in that all you had to do was slide a lever to drain the oil (the lever was very sturdy and really could not accidently be moved without intent). The only issue I can see is that the quick change plug sticks down a bit under the car (whereas the OEM plug is flush). So what are your opinions? Is the quick change plug a good idea?

Bad idea on a late model
Porsche
- it would be hanging all by itself at the lowest point under the car. One peice of road debris in the wrong spot and bye bye oil. I have
Fumoto
valves on 2 other cars but if you peek under your car at the plug location, you'll see why it won't work.
Yeah, that was my concern. I can only imagine hitting the "right" piece of debris and no more oil!!
I love these things but would not put it on the
Porsche
for the very reason mentioned above. Too bad b/c once you remove the OEM plug, that oil comes gushing out!!

Plus, if it is not aluminum (as the OEM plug is) you may be replacing the oil pan vs. the plug if it gets in wrong.
I had one on my WRX (Fomoto Valve (spelling)). Worked great but I was always conserned about getting it caught on something, it never did. Also another issue is that the size of the hole is much smaller in the valve then the drain bolt hole. So that might hurt getting all the crud out of the oil pan during a change.
It is a nice easy clean oil change with valve. But I would not replace my oil bolt on my
Porsche
with this valve.
If you want an upgrade in this area, buy an hardened anodized aluminum plug from
LN engineering
--the OEM is too soft and will strip fairly easily--ask me how I know!

Not really looking for an "upgrade"; just an easier way to drain the oil. Given the risks associated with this style of drain plug, I have decided that it's just not worth it and will be sticking with the stock plug.
