I am looking at a 2008
Cayman
. What do I need to know from the seller to know what my options are to add an aux audio input? I understand from other threads that the current setup matters in terms of my options...
thanks; sorry to add another thread on this. I am sure the topic has been beat up pretty good.
thanks again-
YOLT
I should add this...
I do not want to use an FM transmitter, and I do not want it to integrate with the nav unit. I just want to select songs off an mp3 player (sony right now) and have it play, hard-wired, through the audio system.
hope that helps and thanks again....
I believe the only way to do this without the fm modulation is via a denison gateway unit that runs about $500. This will allow various additional inputs into the oem system. This should work with any of the three factory audio option levels and with or without a nav.
Bumping this thread, in case anyone has additional info on this topic. I have a
2008 Cayman S
with
PCM
and have had terrible experiences with FM transmitters and am looking for another way to play audio via my
iPhone
.
Is the Denison 500 (or similar) still the only way of doing this, or is there a more simple way to do this without integrating with the nav unit? Thanks in advance for any guidance and advice!
Sorry bud but the Dension is the cheapest way of doing what you're looking for.
Starting to look like the Denison is better reviewed than the mObridge. I've got an 06
Cayman
with
PCM
and I'd love integrating bluetooth phone and iPod into it.
Thanks for the quick responses!
I'm very happy with this. I just run nav, audio, etc through Siri on
iPhone
.

Hm didn't know about that option...my only hesitation is having to take the unit out and mail it to them, seems a bit of a hassle. May have a look around locally to see if someone could do something similar.
I hope this post isn't hijacking this thread. But I just bought (haven't picked up yet though) a
2008 Boxster
with PSM2.1 installed. The guys says it also has the Bluetooth phone attachment added. I will not be using a phone with this setup. So can I use the Bluetooth to play my iPod? If so, how do I make it work?
