I removed the lever and the cable isn’t detached there so the problem is elsewhere but even when I pull in the cable with pliers, it’s unresponsive.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 1999 C4 Cabriolet with manual Front and rear hood release. I have owned the car for about a year and it has 57,000 miles on it. When I first got the car and until recently when I pulled the front hood release handle, there was a pop and the hood would open about 1/2" or so and easily allowed you to slide your fingers in to release the secondary latch and open the hood. Now, when I pull the handle I do not feel the pop and I can barely get my fingers under the hood lip to open the hood far enough and reach the secondary latch. I have removed the latching mechanism and checked the cable and all seems to be in order. I have also removed the handle assembly inside the car and all looks good there as well. I was told that it may be the hood struts and that if the hood does not stay open when raised it is the likely culprit. My hood stays open just fine when raised so not sure about that. Looking for some suggestions on where to go next. New cable? New Latch? Any help would be appreciated.

POST 2Original post

It seems as if the cable that connects to the hood release on my 993 broke. Does anyone know of a way to open the hood or fix the hood release? Thanks

POST 3Original post

It appears my emblem does not extend as far in the open and pulled positions.

POST 4Original post

Use the emergency release loop. Remove the right front wheel well liner. Look for a wire with a loop on its end; pull that wire, and you'll release the bonnet (hood) latch.

POST 5Original post

Sorry about that - no idea how my post ended up in this thread!

Quote: is this for all Porsche vehicles? I have a 2011 Porsche Panamera 4S and my hood release in unresponsive. I removed the lever and the cable isn’t detached there so the problem is elsewhere but even when I pull in the cable with pliers, it’s unresponsive. Is there an emergency release loop for this as well? Thank you for your time
