I took apart my stereo to discover only the front speaker wires are connected. Which is not a surprise as i only have fronts. I added a speaker to the rear terminals to see if i had output and great i do. Now i want to add an amplifier which takes speaker line inputs from the rears but i have a problem.....i cant find a switched live. I know where it should be connected to the cdr24 from looking at the pinout diagram in the files section.....and it isn't there. So it appears the cdr24 doesn't use a switched live..is that right? So where can i tap into this to use as a remote for my amp?
thanks in advanced.
The US 986s have a cell phone connector with both switched and unswitched power behind the center stack. Also a TP/mute.
I bought a Becker cable to tie in without tapping or cutting.
Seems like I heard 9x7s might not have this connector.
the pinout diagram says..
Connector A (Power and System Control Signals)
A1 – Speed dependent Volume Control Input1
A2 – +12V Switched Output1,3
A3 – Telephone Mute Input2,4,5
A4 – +12V Battery Power Input
A5 – +12V Switched Output (control output to power antenna)3
A6 – Illumination Input4
A7 – +12V Switched Input4
A8 – Ground
Does that mean i can take A2 or A5 as the (switched live) remote lead to a amp?
just run a line from your fuse box. I dont think youre going to find one at the radio.
A2 and A5 are in fact correct. They remain on, in the standby state for a few minutes after you remove the key, then they turn off. This is not really a problem. C20 is a pulsed signal (10 second wide pulses at turn on and turn off, as I recall) in the 987 and is not suitable for use as a switched 12V signal. Porsche uses A5 to turn on/off the Bose amplifier.

I need a source for "switched power," a wire that is ON all the time or a wire in the wiring harness that has +12v when the ignition is on, and no voltage when the ignition is off.
So if I'm understanding correctly, A2 and A5 are sources for switched power or as the OP mentioned, "switched live?" Thanks!
