The door panel covers take a little more force - I used a screwdriver wrapped with a piece of cloth.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Just swapped out the OEM W5W bulbs in the rear compartment and door panels with PIAA Xtreme White 168 bulbs (MSRP about $15/pair). These bulbs are significantly whiter and brighter than stock, but have the same wattage. For those of you not interested in switching to LEDs, this is an inexpensive solution for brighter/whiter interior lights. Also, keep in mind that W5W == 194 == 168 fitment. I've included a photo comparing the two bulbs. Note how much yellower the OEM bulb is compared to the PIAA.

POST 3Original post

Are they the same bulbs that go in the bottom of the door panel? I have one thats burned out and thought I'd replace both sides.

POST 4Original post

Looks nice! I belive these are behind the side windows. I am curious what type goes under the door panel.

POST 5Original post

I bought them at a JDM specialty store in Stanton, CA (Super Autotoyz, previously known as Super Autobacs). I regularly see them for sale on eBay for around $15-$25/pair. Just do a search for "piaa xtreme white 168". Yes, the door panel lights and the rear compartment side lights both take W5W/168/194 bulbs. The rear compartment covers are easy to remove - just take a screwdriver and gently wedge it out from the back. The door panel covers take a little more force - I used a screwdriver wrapped with a piece of cloth. Start from the back and wedge it out slowly until the entire assembly pops out. Also, when removing the old bulb (chances are it'll be lit), wrap it in a cloth and pull it out of the socket. These things get HOT.
