As TF says, aside from the exhaust system, a major contributor of the change in sound is due to the GT intake system I have on the car.

TDT’s GT4 sounds insane and is giving the GT3RS’s a run for their money ??

But yep - I prefer the passive setup over the PASM - the main point being, that I can more carefully dial the car in for how I use the car - really sharpening it for that purpose, and then for the road, if i wanted, i could loosen the rebound control a little, at the turn of a dial...

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
68 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.
PistonHeads: 1 discussions
0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.
0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

If you intend to track your car 2-3 times a year then yes you will get your fee for join back on first occasion. PCGB pricing is competitive compared to the big TD organiser

I live just up the road. Is it OK to come down in my little Cayman and mooch about the pits?
Yep - it's free of charge for spectating
Check first to see if spectating is allowed. It hasn’t been at some circuits because of covid.

It's definitely allowed
I was at Silverstone and Donington with PCGB in August so know first hand.
FWIW and IMHO at Oulton, as far as spectating goes, as a point of order/etiquette, leaving the row or two immediately behind the pit garages for the participating cars makes life a lot safer and simpler.
I'll be there spectating in my Focus ST Edition so come say hello. Hope the track clears quickly after the storm due from 3pm today until 8am tomorrow.
Cars will be on track from around 9:00am for sighting laps followed by an open pit lane. Lunch is 12:30pm to 1:30pm, the track closes at 5pm.

I will try and drop in at some point. Will probably be found applying novice stickers to TDT's GT4 in the garages.
Have you go any spares you can send my way? I need them waaaaaaaay more than T!

I heard it and was wondering what exhaust has it got on it?
Didn’t go. RS4 had a puncture and the fridge died. Turned out to be an expensive day…i bought a beer fridge for the garage whilst we were at it….. and a fresh microwave.
I bobbed down for an hour but there is only so many cars my 7 year old can look before declaring extreme boredom!
The Miami blue 991 gt3 seemed to sound so much better than everything else to my ears.
Nice to see something different in the form of a 928 doing some laps as well.

T's car does indeed sound epic, I could hear it screaming from inside mine!
I seem to recall it's a standard silencer but with 200cel sports cat headers, however it has a modified intake which is a big part of the change in sound from standard.
If I'm wrong, I'm sure T will correct me in due course

Thanks for the kind comments guys… the car is a lot of fun!
The exhaust system is based upon a race header design, equal length runners with motorsport collector, mated to custom 200cell catted over axle pipes and this exits via an M&M Valveless (Quiet) Muffler, with X-pipe tips.
I did originally still have OEM PSE but it was actually louder in a different way, very brassy, so had to change it.
With the M&M Muffler and X-pipe, the tone changes as you get up the revs. Measured at 103db @4k, yesterday at Oulton, it was a 105db day. And that was with the open tips. My turn-down tips would knock a few db off for quieter days, so happy about that.
As TF says, aside from the exhaust system, a major contributor of the change in sound is due to the GT intake system I have on the car.

Weather really came good after lunch. Loads of pics to download.
Fave cat of the day and TDT working the brakes hard into the first right hander
Have you got a link for anymore pics? Full-res versions?
I’d like to re-use if that’s ok?
Wetter than an otters pocket today in Cheshire again so will have a day uploading the pics from my camera. Will upload JPEG but do have RAW files if anyone wants to play in photoshop.
Fantastic - thank you so much!
Were you the guy(s) in the Ultimate Green mk2 Focus RS? If so we meant to come over as Mrs Twinfan was drooling over your car
I've just had a look at that album and there are quite a few pics not showing that I can see in the album
No idea why but its missing some good Pit shots of TDT;s car.

I'll upload some of my laps to YouTube later and add the link here.

That would be me and my mate James
It's always so nice the car gets such positive attention even in the company of much more desirable metal
Despite not being a Porsche owner (yet!) I'm always made to feel very welcome and had a thoroughly enjoyable day chatting to quite a few people including Paul in the Crayon GT3 RS and Brian with his new Alpine.
Was yours the yellow 718 GT4 with the red OMP rear tow strap? I'll be sure to introduce myself next time!

Yep, that was mine. The offset black stripe over the top is a bigger giveaway than the tow loop
Definitely come over and say hello if you see me out and about anywhere
Always baffles me why cars indicating to let you pass forget to lift off the throttle.
Great driving. Seems it's only oil spills on Craner Curves at Donington that seem to slow you down.

Car is really dialled in on the KW CS 3-way now, been fine tuning the settings and it’s in a lovely place now.

You preferring the passive KW setup over the PASM then?
Still faffing on suspension spec for mine. Hopefully will get in your way on track again next year.

You too. Couldn't get on this one so had to do Donington a couple of days earlier which was dry and great fun. But am still booked on for the RS day at Oulton next March.

Where do you book the RS day, I keep looking on PCGB but can't find anything
Its a MSV event. So you’ll need to keep checking on the site if you’ve not been on before.

PASM absolutely has its place... as it allow the car to be able to try to be usable for road and track... and Porsche calibration is generally very very well judged and strikes decent balance for most people - and it gets better with every generation.
But yep - I prefer the passive setup over the PASM - the main point being, that I can more carefully dial the car in for how I use the car - really sharpening it for that purpose, and then for the road, if i wanted, i could loosen the rebound control a little, at the turn of a dial... but I have generally left it as is - as there is no penalty on the roads that I drive.
Thanks T. I think the key benefit of good, adjustable passives is not necessarily changing setting
all
the time, but getting them finely tuned in the first place. The adjustments are worth making for tracks or conditions that are outliers.
I certainly find this with 3 and 4 way mtb suspension.

Wow - that is everything! Just missing shortened gears
That is a great set of changes. The KWs must make a material difference for track use.
Another video from the day that I found.
Great to have some external footage. First time I’ve really heard/seen my car go around a circuit.
