Has anyone seens this problem that I have now started experiencing regularly?
On starting, I have no instrument display at all and the radio displays "Protected". I can drive the car, but I noticed that the indicators do not work. Only by pressing the left button on the instrument panel (I think this resets the odo) does the display come to life. However the radio preset buttons change the radio station, but the display does not change, so the frequency is incorrect for the preset station being listened to.
After a further bit of button pressing it returns to normal, but this is now happening even after leaving the car unused for only one day.
Any clues, or is this a fault?
Sounds like a faulty instrument cluster or something corrupting data on the interior CAN bus. It's time for a trip to the dealer.
I'd guess it's a fault. I had some trouble with the PCM in my Cayenne and the dealer solved it with what the service ticket called a "hard reset." I'm wondering if you could accomplish the same thing by pulling the fuse. (Yes, I saw that the car had been off; this is a complete shot in the dark, but would be easy to try....) At any rate, best of luck, and post what the outcome is for others, please.
Same case happen to me on last night.
Does anyone got the idea what's going wrong?
There have been a number of radio issues reported solved with the suggestion jnscolo posted. Worth a try. But if it continues after this the dealer will probably have to fix it.
Not normal, have it checked out.
Same problem on sunday. I took it to the dealer yesterday. He told me that he need to replace the radio...I am waiting for the parts.
I start the car today. The radio comes ok but the instrument panel still "no life". After few min. I try gknowles's method. I press the odo reset switch once, my panel "re-bron" every thing can display. So I drive the car to my friend's garage and use the diagnostic tools to check the ecu.
It told me that the terminal 30 only 11.37v (w/o start the engine) & so many DTC "C140 instrument cluster communication" "C131 gateway control (CAN comfort) communication" error on the report.
I guest I need to replace the battery on Monday because it use more than 2 years. After that I will scan again
