Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It's quite a change compared to the 87 944 that I've had for the last 10 years.
Leading evidence: 'Replace compared' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). You know those test miles on the autobahn every car is delivered with?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well, my August order finally arrived late last week. It's been tough to get out of the driver's seat ever since. What a car! It's quite a change compared to the 87 944 that I've had for the last 10 years.
My question is, what are the do's and dont's for breaking the car in? How many miles are considered in the break in period. Thanks.
Trent
My manual for my 02Cab says essentially no more than 4000 rpms for the first 2k and vary the rpms as you drive. Since this is my first new Porsche I'm following manual to the letter! Don Watson 02 C4 Cab TipS
I'm in the same boat - only a few hundred miles on my C4 cab. I started off trying to be real careful, but after reading a lot of posts on the subject, I've loosened up a bit. A lot of people refer back to an old racing saying "Drive them fast and they'll be fast; drive them slow and they'll be slow".
Many people claim that the cars they broke-in harder ended up having stronger engines and/or burned less oil. I've never seen any hard proof of this, but have heard this over and over again.
So, what to believe... the Porsche manual or Porsche owners. I try to drive in the middle. I'm gentle on the car most of the time, but open it up whenever I feel the need. The car is so much more fun past 4000.
Wow, 2K??????? That sucks. It was like 1k on my 2001. THE most important thing is to keep the revs low until the motor is warmed up to normal operating temp. This is a practice you'll want to continue even after the break-in period.
The funny thing is that the manual that came with my 02 Cab 4 says not to exceed 5000 RPM for the first 3000 km (1875 miles)
Had the same experience with my boxster, there was a difference between the Dutch and the English manual.
