Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What is the consensus on coolant tanks? There seems to be a wide price range from about 70-450. Are the OEM/Genuine really worth 6 times the price? Is there any one particular aftermarket one to specifically avoid? I tend to use genuine most of the time, but curious... Car is a 99 track only so lots of maintenance in between weekends and no road miles.

POST 2Original post

We only use OEM tanks as the result of extremely poor performance of the aftermarket units. We have actually seen aftermarket units fail in a couple of days; considering the installation time, simply is not worth it.

POST 3Original post

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just at Woody's Boxster Mecca last week. For coolant tank, considering pain of install, would only do new and then prefer not to think about it. Looks like OEM is the way to go.
