Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Driving down the road on this gorgeous Sunday, 50MPH, shifting from 4 to 5, when there was a "lurch" & the car went straight to 35MPH.....no warning lights, nothing.... I realized it was still "driving" (I thought I was coasting to a stop...but it stop dropping at 35MPH) all gears were fine... Pulled to a stop at my friends house (Mgr of the Porsche dealership here)...he wasn't home... Uh oh, would it start again? ...It did, and ran perfectly, full speeed, no issues. No lights, no smells, no fluids..... ANY IDEA WHAT HAPPENED???? WHAT DO I DO? Straight to the dealership or wait to see if it happens again? Thanks for the help Sam PS: 2000 996 6 speed - 7500 miles

POST 2Original post

Hi Sam: Wow, sorry to to hear of your grief,.....these events can be very disconcerting, to say the least. The sure way to tell what happened and start the resolution of whatever the problem might be is a trip to your Dealer. You need the Factory scan tool, the PST-2, to read any logged codes in the ECU and determine what caused the event. Did the Check Engine light come on????

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post
