Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

At my indy it ran IIRC near $600 for the fix, as there was a lot of labor involved.
Leading evidence: 'Run iirc' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'cracked hose causing a leak.....anyway i change my maf' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check engine' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

it's an oem bosch maf, PART NUMBER: 996 606 124 00
Price 30$ usd (I'm from Montréal)
The valve covers are sealed by sealant, not a gasket. It does look like that's the issue. Due to the placement, I believe you have to drop the engine. I've done it in the garage with one jack.
The main issue is that the camshaft covers hold the camshafts in place, you need a holder tool (porsche tool 9634) that screws into the block to hold down the camshafts before you remove the covers.
You can do it with the engine in the car, but it is hard. PM me and I will send you a diagram for the tool, you can make it yourself, and some pictures of homemade tools. Also, it may not be the cover, it could be on of the sparkplug tubes/o-rings or the solenoid for the cam advance. It appears that the oil is also present above the bottom of the cover. Is there oil by any of the sparkplug tubes?
I dont see any oil on spark plug tubes. But i can checked more closely....its hard to see further under the car if i using only car jack.
I will not do the work myself for sure.I can do anything but no engine work!I can oversealed and being in trouble later.
I had a valve cover leak on my 986 which uses the same m96 block as your 996. At my indy it ran IIRC near $600 for the fix, as there was a lot of labor involved.
Yep, motor has to come out... has 42,500 miles on the clock, going to go ahead and do the 60,000 maint while it is out. Leak is on the port side starboard is dry.
They do suck! I did mine in March with a leaky RMS. Amazing these things can leak from every where. Engine can be tilted...does not need to be removed. Cost me around $800.00 for both banks. Best of luck guys!

Who did your work. Major dilemma here. Bought engine to rebuild it and 4-5-6 side had valve cover damage,so I bought a valve cover now I find out the must match.
