Of the other options, lots were personal taste (the styling options), one was a total waste (Burmester - too much road noise), but the one I used all the time was the passenger footwell storage net (free!)!

Porsche Swindon couldn't tell it was aftermarket when the car was in recently and were about to try and replace a cracked exhaust tip under Porsche warranty.

So.....to compare like for like, you are not allowed to put same tyres on a turbo but your are allowed to change the geo on a GT3 to make it go round corners LOL.

Hi guys, I have been considering a Turbo S 991.2 ever since I sold my old 997.2 Turbo S a year ago, a car of which I absolutely loved!
What are the thoughts on the 991.2 Turbo S? What else is worth considering? 4 seats are a must have as I have small children.
Amazingly competent car. Handles anything rain or shine and obviously performance to beat just about anything. Looks super mean too.
However, I found the ride a bit floaty; it didn’t have the connection of some other models. Great for a more everyday car but lacked something from a driving perspective. I found the 992 Carrera had 85% of the performance but with a more sporty chassis feel.
Like I have said on a few threads, I agree with the posts above, non Gt porkers are floaty.
I cannot stand them, none are drivers cars.
Depends what you want, on PH in the Porsche section it's not really a driver focused forum.
So a turbo S would be the perfect car if you want a very fast premium brand car to drive about in.
4 seats becomes an issue, but is the turbo S a 4 seater really ?
I’ve noticed prices on the 991.2 turbos seem to be pretty strong at the moment too. Not sure why. Whilst there are deals to be done on 992 Carreras.
One other thing to add: if you are willing tk lightly modify I think the handling of a Turbo could be drastically changed if you wanted to. Different springs, DSC pasm box etc easily done.
I've compared 991.2 turbo s and 992 C4S over a few weeks back to back my pick would be the turbo s although its only a few things that put me off 992.
As a dark horse maybe have look at a Litchfield GTR LM20 or track pack. Image F&F but I like them v.special. Different league like Porsche and more GT are DB11, FF, Bentley CGT, F Lusso. I'd try them all. 991 is crazy when you're on it. You'd be thrown straight in jail! If you have kids and they're getting older maybe M5, RS6 or E63? Or a Cayenne turbo s coupe or Lambo Urus which can all do the turbo s thing four adults up. Having said if you loved 997 you will love 991 even more
I'm in same position, happy with non 's' version .. can't see any obvious deals on 992's, even 2019 ones seems to be almost list may 10% off for heavily optioned. Not sure who is buying at those prices. quite like Miami blue would that be a resale issue ?
Gulf Blue is nothing like Miami Blue - although I guess we all see colours differently.
Amazed anyone is thinking of buying an expensive new car in the current rapidly changing and uncertain climate
But it’s not my money, so it’s not my business.

And Miami in another light
You'd never have thought they were the same colour !!! Shows what light and cameras can do.
Or I could go GTS but I really want more of a cruiser ... is the GTS harsh .. I had a Cayman 981 GTS and didn't get on with it.
https://www.alastairbols.com/cars/porsche-991-2-c2...
Has everything on it ...
They all look different depending on light. The modern Gulf Blue on 991 and 992 is a few shades darker than the original Gulf on 917 if you see them both side by side. They're different colour codes.

That doesn’t look anything like Miami Blue....OPC’s photographs are so bad at representing colours in so many cases. No idea if it is a constraint of the Porsche website but they need to sort it out !
This is the nicest GTS for sale but an even brighter colour and manual with buckets. Its probably the pick of the OPC classifieds for me and a simple flash away from 600bhp Litchfield / 9e. Same with the T
https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-Carrera-GT...
That's a great colour, for me I need more of a comfort spec one (I know it's a contradiction) .. also that green one has had 3 owners. Is the turbo "softer" than a GTS ?
Comfort wise they'd be very similar. Go for a spin and decide when things back to normal. If maybe wanting a manual I'd go for something like that GTS and yes being 2wd it will defo be a bit more precise, lighter and sharper. If PDK turbo S as its a crazy bit of kit. All it lacks is a sports exhaust and Europipe 50cel Sports exhaust for circa £3500 an you're done needs nothing else. Transformational in terms of sound and emotion. Its flipping quick too and very easy to live with and drive. Best real world sports GT out there for me even now if you intend to do alot of miles.
I think this is a better rep of Miami - looks much darker in shadow - it’s basically an aqua blue - I really like it on the right car - needs black accents

Ah thanks, yes it is - only 700 miles in but it’s bloody brilliant - the chassis, engine (more low down torque) are really very impressive - proper baby GT now - can’t think of a more fun soft top road car - colour in the image still isn’t really as it is in real life - impossible colour to photograph actually - looks really nice in the metal - but I’m biased
Congrats! What a great choice and specification. The yellow callipers really work well with the miami blue paint and darker wheels. I love that colour the GT3 RS at JZM also looks the biz in that colour. Maybe more for the GT variants than turbo as I've not seen it on turbo in the flesh other than 911 HUL on vid. Pretty sure she's Miami Blue looks v.nice.

Yep that’s Miami - but again doesn’t really look like that in the metal - looks a little more realistic on the JZM 991RS.

A left field idea perhaps, S63/S65 coupe/cab?
I too am in the market for a Porsche but i'm torn between a 991.1 Turbo S vs a 991.1 GT3. Could any Porsche owners help me decide? (I haven't driven either yet). Coming from an S1 Lotus Exige (supercharged) and TVR T350C which I owned over 15 and 10 years ago respectively. To quote what somebody else has said in this thread, would I not feel the connection to the road in the Turbo S if it feels 'floaty' compared to the GT3?

Next question would be securing a deal. Do you think there will be some great deals to be had during the current climate?
Thanks in advance...

I’d say given what you have driven in all likelihood a GT3....but you need to drive both and also does depend a bit on whether it’s a weekend car or something that might get used more regularly. I’d also say it’s worth trying a GT3 with Buckets and Comfort spec....they do make quite a difference to the feel of the car IMHO.
They're chalk and cheese tried both. Turbo s for road use and daily and GT3 for track/weekend fun car. You need to have a go in both. Both easy to live with but buy GT3 from an OPC or with OPC warranty as engines can have issues. OPC can be difficult on engine warranty swaps in my own experience and this guy had to find another OPC

Thanks Cheib, I work from home 95% of the time and have done for 4.5 years so I guess it'd be an evenings / weekend car. The GT3 is a stunning car!

Sterling advice thanks IMI A, the engine issues i've read only affected GT3's from a certain age / batch I believe? Is this true for GT3RS car too or did they not suffer from it?

I think the thing is if you get a Turbo you will probably always want to own a GT3....not sure that is the case the other way round. Not the case for me anyway.

GT3 RS no issues reported I know of. It would be a better bet but then you should also look at gen 2 GT3. Try both that's the only way you'll know. Many prefer a turbo s if its just one car for everything. Speak to OPC South London they have excellent examples of both GT3 and turbo s and may let you drive both. Hatfield have both too. We wouldn't swap our turbo FWIW I went into OPC SL to buy a GT3 and almost walked out with second turbo s cab!

Sure that isn't voodoo?
If I had to keep to minimum I'd want.
PDLS lights in black
Adaptive Cruise
Apple Play (may be standard but think I may have had to tick an option can't remember)
Keyless go
As you have kids, don't forget that isofix on the front seat is an option, though I think it can be retrofitted. When I had mine built I optioned the front axle lift system because I'm in London, but I don't think it was actually necessary. Of the other options, lots were personal taste (the styling options), one was a total waste (Burmester - too much road noise), but the one I used all the time was the passenger footwell storage net (free!)!

I was in the exact same position as you, debating between them two cars so may be of some help?
I opted for the gt3 eventually although the first gt3 I drove had comfort seats and no cage and my feeling at the time were that there wasn’t much difference between the turbo and itself - sure you could still hear the clatter of the flywheel more and the completely different ‘less refined’ racing engine but it wasn’t enough for purely a weekend car, as someone has noted above too
The second car I tried just felt right within the first few miles- Carbon seats, Clubsport and ceramics made all the difference, the other thing I’d recommend is a exhaust too - just add a little more drama on the downshifts which are a tad mute when stock (Road use only so no worries about noise etc etc)
Good luck with the hunt, I feel like I have scratched the gt3 itch now and have offered my car around to a few enthusiasts in the market- if it was a car with comfort seats and steel brakes I’d be worried as sub 100k there is huge competition currently!!
Hi there. I’ve recently sold my 991.2 GTS and I’m now looking at the 991.2 Turbo S. However, I can’t quite believe how they’re holding their values. I have kept an eye on prices for the past 7/8 months and they just don’t seem to drop much. The cheapest ones on the market are 110k! Given the current global situation, and the release of the 992 TS, I am hoping these crazy prices will begin to dip. Does anyone know if dealers move on these prices and if so how much realistically?
I have driven one and loved it, the only thing it’s lacking is a soundtrack, so an exhaust upgrade would be high on the list.
Have look at the standard crayon 991 turbo for sale in the PH at Aston Martin. Very tempting to send that to 9e. 0-100 in 4.8 secs. 0-186mph in 18 secs. for £13k plus VAT and I reckon they'd take £80k for that car. Been for sale at AM forever.
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately that one is the non s turbo. As I mentioned before, the cheapest 991.2 TTS with sensible mileages seem to start at 110k. Just seems a lot for 4 year old ones when they were list at circa 145k. Advanced apologies to those who get irked by the constant talk of values/depreciation etc but for someone who doesn’t have an endless pit, it’s always a factor.

They were made in much lower numbers than the GTS.....I think from what my OPC said they got one or two quarterly. That’s the reason they have held their value so well...and, of course, very few were £145k by the time a few boxes got ticked.

Good luck with the hunt, I feel like I have scratched the gt3 itch now and have offered my car around to a few enthusiasts in the market- if it was a car with comfort seats and steel brakes I’d be worried as sub 100k there is huge competition currently!!
Great advice! What about low rpm torque? Is it really noticeable when comparing the GT3 with a Turbo S? (without ever driving either I imagine you get that feeling of being pinned back in your seat much more with the Turbo S - but just how much more?)
Thanks chap! Just have to wait for this lock-down to end then I can go and test drive a few.
Picked mine up the day before lockdown started
It's not as sharp as a GT3, but if you want it as a daily / regular driver I would recommend! I moved from a 2018 R8 V10 Plus. A little less 'drama' but a sharper tool than the Audi.

Very nice spec with those wheels and folding bucket seats. They drive much better on Cup 2 or P4S

Yes I would have gone Michelin myself, but the dealer put a full set on for me before purchase so I wasn't complaining for free...
Good spot on the spec.... don't often see them with those wheels. Also has a lot of alcantara (steering wheel, seat centres, visors, centre console etc.) and some paint upgrades (Air intake and outlet slats, side skirts, rear intake, rear apron, headlight washers etc.) as well as the PDLS+ and white dials plus some other bits. Quite 'stealthy'!

They were made in much lower numbers than the GTS.....I think from what my OPC said they got one or two quarterly. That’s the reason they have held their value so well...and, of course, very few were £145k by the time a few boxes got ticked.
And they are - relatively speaking - underpriced at list in the UK same as the GT cars. In Germany list of one of those starts with a 2 I think (Euros obviously)

Nice car. Those are the GT3 wheels? Were they available on the Turbo?
I did not think so as GT3 wheels have totally different offsets so must have been an option ! , GT3 wheels and buckets on a turbo wow, very nice.
I’ve had 991.1 and 991.2 turbo s cabs and 991.2 GT3, the .2 turbos is just a little bit better in every area than the previous model, as you would expect, and would leave any GT 3 for dead on road, or track if using the same tyres.

maybe for 2 laps ;-) then the tyres would go off and the brakes would fade lol
Too heavy, brakes would over heat, and no adjustable arms to get a track geo on it also (adding to the tyres going off issue) + far less downforce.
bhp/ton is circa the same as a modern GT3 odd as it sounds.
A car like triple black with folding buckets was £160k ish list with options in UK. It would have been worth a £10k premium on delivery as others mention very limited supply. It will have hardly deprecated in that unicorn spec and I suspect whoever was the seller could have sold that car today multiple times even in current mkt - probably was not even advertised.

So.....to compare like for like, you are not allowed to put same tyres on a turbo but your are allowed to change the geo on a GT3 to make it go round corners LOL.

Hahaha you should race SWMBO over three laps at BA and find out D. We'll give Chris my manual 997 turbo. I'll run PH book for charity of your choice.
SWMBO thinks she has a race license and has won many famous races by the way (around the M25)

you can change the geo but sadly have very little adjustments.
the GT3 and GT4 point for track was adjustable geo's just only 20% seem to do it !!
You’ve only got to read USA forums to get it. The turbo S is a very capable machine on track. The later 991.2 turbo S is a monster out the box. Some relatively inexpensive upgrades and it’s immense.
Sticky tyres, sorted spring set up, exhaust kit and a simple remap and you’ve got the real deal - On the road or track. BHP, as always, is insignificant compared to the twist/torque a motor generates
^^^ Very nice. These things are fantastic for European trips and then up to VMAX for a few supercar thrashings. Day 1 car went from Swindon for PPF them straight up to the run way to see what she'd do. 600LT and 650S couldn't live with her up the track even in perfect conditions let alone in a GT3

no one in the UK going to change springs on a turbo S may be 0.1% buyers.
Most are on PCP they don't own them so cannot mod them, the rest don't care any way and will drive on P zero it's whole life.
All you need on turbo s is a 5o cel Europipe stage 2 to wake the exhaust up and maybe a nice set of BBS F1 R. Job done. Doesn't need a remap or springs IMO but if you send to any decent indy 0-100mph in 4.8 secs and handling to out perform a GT3. A remap, cup 2, geo with springs its a sub 7 min car around the Ring IMO. Just a £995 flash and zorst with nothing else from Litchfield gets you 650PS.
Stock Turbo s 7.17 round the ring set on ordinary p zero.

Stock GT3 7.18 on cup rubber

Fantastic cars out of the box both of them.
I'd still take new GT3 personally if it was only one car for the rest of my life but you really need both

I haven't changed the springs (yet) but run mine on Cup2’s albeit its been in storage since November and will continue to be so until normal life resumes
Is the euro pipe the best aftermarket option for the .2 turbo s?

Europipe the only one I think you don't need a remap on hence why we chose. Also have on 997. Porsche Swindon couldn't tell it was aftermarket when the car was in recently and were about to try and replace a cracked exhaust tip under Porsche warranty. I had to explain a stock tip wouldn't fit. Europipe kindly sent new one. Didn't have to as exhaust has covered 16k miles and well over two years old. Its quite loud in person even at low speeds.

Changing springs is requisite imo - if only for the aesthetics if nothing else. Standard they do sit 4x4 high
My point was, the 991.2 ts is an animal and for a relatively small sum can become mind blowingly capable on road, track or strip.

Is that your one??
I had the same dilemma (to a degree) this time last year and proceeded into a dark blue Turbo S Cab. Insane cars and a daily user. Love ours and coincidentally checked prices yesterday and although no doubt there is wriggle room, prices look very similar to last year in that an extra year on age has made little difference. Not many (relatively) out there which could be partly to blame?
How do you like it? Assuming it is yours?
This looks like a rather special 991 Turbo S coming up for sale
